Three Sisters
The Three Sisters is home to the original Straatan Empire, and is influenced primarily by three large city-states. The Straatos Republic is the largest and most wealthy, and is the "Oldest" sister in terms of the power dynamic. Beside them, the Villam Council and the Mesian Monarchy both operate their own spheres of influence. Together, these three entities rule the Three Sisters. Lately, the relationship is more cordial, although in times it can become more hostile.
They realize that open trade between the three makes them strong, as well as their assured mutual defense makes them strong. The influence of the of the Straatan Empire remains strong here, and the Villam Council and Mesian Monarchy often rely on the Straatos Republic for international influence, allowing them to take the lead, due to their deep pockets and even deeper political connections to their former subjects and other foreigners. They maintain a friendly relationship with their neighbors in the Sapphire Sea and the Grand Alliance. The Villam Council is made up of a great number of merchant lords and powerful nobles who act as the bread basket in the Three Sisters. The proud Mesian Monarchy is happy to control the majority of the military power of the Three Sisters, who keep the beasts and monsters of the wildlands at bay.
Thus, the Three Sisters operates as a symbiotic organism, as a shadow of their former empire. Trade, money, and political power turns the wheels of society within the Three Sisters. Since the dissolution of the Empire, the yolk of control over the various political entities has slipped from the local land-owning elite, and has found its way into the hands of powerful groups run by the citizens.
