Warden Isle

Located off of Velant's west coast near the capital Rimora, the grey, foreboding Warden Isle has long been the ancestral home of the monastic order of the ShadowWardens. While technically still being territory beloning to the Kingdom of Velant, the Shadow Wardens have exercised independence long before the Kingdom's formation. Whether this is due to some unspoken arrangement between the Wardens and the monarchy, or because of fear and superstition regarding the island, is debated.
While the island contains the homes and grounds of those who train on it, it also has a large structure known as the Shadow Monastery resting upon it. Carved into the sheer face of the island's largest hillside, the Wardens regard the mysterious monastery with the same reverence a priest would regard a grand temple, though the few scholars that have been permitted to set foot on the island conclude the monastery is a far older structure than any place of worship that currently functions on Arkos. While the Wardens have been known to give refuge to societal outcasts and the unfortunate seeking refuge, it is rare that an outsider is permitted to enter the monastery, and no one has publicly spoken what may lie far within.
