Porgorag, Wielder of the Zenethian Hook and Chain

Orc Barbarian

Porgorag was an orc barbarian who appeared in Azimuth Campaign One. He was an NPC played by M.B.   Porgorag was one of the legendary Zenethian Champions that fought alongside Zenthai, The Dragon King during the Great War. He was the original wielder of the powerful Zenethian Hook and Chain.   In the late Fourth Age, Porgorag was the parent of Grupe, the Monster Hunter, one of the legendary Zenethian Heroes that would save the world against the dual threats of Esturk, The World's End and Psaro the Manslayer.

Description

Appearance

Depictions of Porgorag show him as a very large and muscular orc with prominent tusks. His head was shaved. He had several black tattoos on his chest, torso, and arms.

Personality

Porgorag spoke simply, loudly, and directly. He appeared to have a strong attention to detail as he was able to identify Ivan, the Oozemaster, as the descendant of Rita even while under the painful effects of Esturk's corruption beam. Despite the pain from his black-glass form as a Dark Champion, Porgorag constantly fought against Esturk's influence and warned the Zenethian Heroes of the actions he was forced into.

Biography

Background

Not much is known of the lives of the Zenethian Champions before Zenthai, The Dragon King, elevetated them in the fighting of the Great War. It is said that Porgorag was a great hunter in the lands of Tarteria.

The Great War

In the late Third Age, Esturk, The World's End used the Power of Evolution and started the Great War. Unable to meet this threat alone, Zenthai, The Dragon King, chose six Champions from the races of Azimuth. These 6 received the direct blessing of the Dragon King, and from his own divine heart he forged six crystalline weapons of holy power. For Porgorag, Zenthai forged the Zenethian Hook and Chain. With their strength and will to aid his own, Zenthai and his Champions brought the fight to Esturk’s forces across Azimuth.   The greatest battle of the age occurred on the shores of Tarteria: The Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes. During this battle, Zenthai carried his Champions westward and battled with Esturk, setting him to slumber beneath Tarteria.   Though the battle was won and the world persisted, the two greatest gods of Azimuth were shuttered from it and too weak to interact with their followers. As the Zenethian Champions set to the task of repairing this broken world, the light of both Zenethia, the Plane of Light, and Nadiria, the Plane of Darkness, faded, and so ended the Golden Age of Azimuth.

The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow

In the early Fourth Age, Porgorag worked with Sanazi and Morazar and drove out the remaining bestial forces loyal to Esturk in Tateria. Porgorag would remain in northern Tarteria for much of his life to guard the lands that Esturk slumbered beneath.   At some point, Porgorag hid the Zenethian Hook and Chain in The Shrine of Breaking Waves.   The Champions worked to repair and maintain the light they had fought for, but even their extended lives would eventually come to an end as the world continued on. Porgorag was buried alongside Morazar in their gravesites in Aktempto.

Campaign One: The Zenethian Heroes

During his preparations for the next time Esturk would rise again, Zenthai paired with each of the Zenethian Champions to birth the Zenethian Children. On 24 Felim 4A 979, Porgorag's descendant Grupe was born in Hometown.   In the late Fourth Age in Aktempto, the shrine and gravestones of Porgorag and Morazar were corrupted by the forces of Esturk. Porgorag and Morazar were somehow taken from Zenethia, the Plane of Light, and they were corrupted into Esturk's first two Dark Champions.   On 2 Avedar 4A 996, the Zenethian Heroes reached Aktempto and descended through the deepest orichalcum mines to where Esturk had awoken. Esturk had used his corruptive powers to capture the stolen souls of his three Dark Champions: Porgorag, Morazar, and Trip. The Heroes fought and defeated the Dark Champions, releasing their souls. Porgorag's soul was released back to Zenethia, the Plane of Light.
