Aljidar Range

Aljidar is a mountain range in northeast Kasetia. It often acts as an unofficial border between The Empire of Al'Quadash and Ramuni. The area is sparsely populated, though is thought to have a significant gnomish population.

Geography

Aljidar is a more condensed range, with none of the mountains reaching to overly extreme heights, though it remains hazardous all the same. Rivers lead out of the range to both the north and south, though the majority of the water spills both south and east, particularly towards the Tiza Lake. The eastern portions of the range have moderate levels of vegetation, becoming much rockier as one moves west. The valleys crossing the range are what some might call picturesque, with fog rolling through and thick forests spread around the rivers that cut through.

Ecosystem

Aljidar has many connections to the Underdark, so the few creatures that do survive down there reach the surface on occasion.

Ecosystem Cycles

When the winter period concludes in the region, the snow that normally gathers across the mountain range begins to melt, leading to fresh nutrients being brought along the rivers, re-invigorating the region thoroughly.

History

Aljidar has a long history of being a place for outcasts and malicious individuals to gather in secret. It has seen populations of goblins flourish through the range, along with kobolds, orcs and duergar. Besides those collections of less-than-savoury sorts, it was home to a dwarf clan long before the decline had occurred, as well as having had aeree inhabit the mountaintops and sarrukh living in the mountains prior to the sarrukh becoming extinct.
