Humans are the dominant sapient species of the
Known World. Widespread and ethnically diverse, humans make up the population of six of the great powers (
Etrusca,
Pelopon,
Levane,
Al-Djinn,
Khemri, and
Tunis),
the Northlands and many smaller civilizations.
Near-Humans
Most other sapient mortal species in the Known World are categorized as near-humans and are similar to humans and, in many cases, capable of interbreeding and reproduction. Most near-human species are the result of intervention by the gods, most commonly the cruel
goddess of the Moon who twisted the children of her rival the goddess of Love in order to hurt her and bring darkness to the Known World. Near-human species include
Amaxons & Centaurs,
Basti,
Uruks,
Taureans, and
Mermaids.
