Twinclaw
Built on the eastern edge of the Okoniawai River, tantalizingly close to the capital city of Edeli, Twinclaw was once the greatest obstacle Mishra ever faced in his quest to dominate all of the Pridelands and consolidate the Kingdom into a single entity instead of various warring city-states. During the ancient days, Twinclaw was known to be home to the fabled Tomb Guard, an elite military force who can trace it's lineage farther than any other on the face of Kermoria. Only after the untimely death (many documents suggest assassination) of their leader did the city fall, as the unit fell into disarray in the field and were nearly wiped out.
Purpose / Function
Twinclaw once served the dual purpose of being a vital (and well protected) port city, as well as a significant religious site for the ancient peoples of the Pridelands. Known as the 'Fleetport of Terror', it was once lauded as one of the greatest pirate and raiding nations to ever exist. The tales told of their bold piracy along the Okoniawai River, through the Snaketail Delta and into the southern Reshal Sea are absolutely legendary, tales to make even the heartiest Red Sash Pirates quiver in their boots.
With great wealth, however, comes the need to defend it, and so the city built greater and greater defenses to protect their growing riches.
Until they drew the ire of their neighbors in Edeli, who did not take kindly to their raids and piracy. And so, the leaders of Twinclaw shifted their focus, constructing a number of temples to the ancient pantheon of the Tabaxi peoples, dozens and dozens of temples, shrines, and monuments, in hopes that their newfound piety could protect them from the military war machine that was the angered Edeli.
In more modern times, it still serves as a fleetport for small vessels, but it is no longer a great harbor full of riches; however, it remains the religious hub for the entire Kingdom, with more and more temples being built and planned each year, honoring old gods, new gods, forgotten gods, demi gods, and anything else vaguely divine.
