Beinn Monaghan Mountains
The Beinn Monaghan Mountains are a rugged and majestic range located in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Monaghan on the Isle of Glanmoor. Towering peaks dominate the skyline, with their rocky faces cut by deep valleys and fast-flowing streams. The mountains are a vital part of the kingdom’s landscape, offering both natural beauty and essential resources such as stone, timber, and valuable minerals.
Nestled deep within these mountains is the ancient dwarven city of Kinduar, a stronghold known for its masterful stonework and rich veins of ore. The dwarves of Kinduar are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing some of the finest weapons, armor, and stone carvings in the Moontide Isles. The city itself is built into the heart of the mountains, with vast underground halls, intricate tunnels, and grand forges that hum with activity day and night. Massive stone gates mark the entrance to Kinduar, carved with ancient runes and guarded by stalwart dwarven sentries.
The Beinn Monaghan Mountains serve as both a natural barrier and a source of wealth for the Kingdom of Monaghan. Traders from Caer Hughloch frequently travel to Kinduar to exchange goods, and caravans laden with precious metals and finely wrought dwarven goods make their way to the coastal port. The mountains are also home to numerous hidden paths and ancient ruins, drawing adventurers who seek lost relics or wish to explore the untamed wilderness.
The mountains hold a strong spiritual significance as well. Shrines to the Old Gods, particularly Ctenmillar, The Forge and Sucellus, The Bountiful can be found at various points along the mountain paths, the latter overlooking fields of barley. These shrines are visited by both dwarves and Daoine alike, who leave offerings for safe passage or successful ventures into the depths of the mountains.
Though the Beinn Monaghan Mountains are primarily home to the dwarves of Kinduar, the surrounding forests and foothills teem with wildlife, and the occasional tribe of giants or band of orcs has been known to inhabit the more remote regions. The rugged beauty of the mountains, combined with their deep cultural and economic importance, makes them a vital part of both the Kingdom of Monaghan and the wider Moontide Isles.
