Wyngate Forest
The Wyngate Forest, located east of Caer Ceredig in the Kingdom of Eastwill on the Isle of Glanmoor, is a place steeped in dark history and danger. Long known for its dense canopy and treacherous paths, the forest has always been home to goblins, worgs, and other dark creatures. Despite efforts in recent years to tame the forest and make it safer for travelers and nearby villages, recent developments have reignited its reputation as a perilous region.
The forest takes its name from the Winter Gate, an ancient portal that once connected a hidden cave within the forest to The Feydark, a twisted and shadowy realm of The Feywild. This gate was sealed when the Fey withdrew from the Moontide Isles, leaving the forest to be slowly reclaimed by nature and the darker forces that lurked within. However, troubling rumors have surfaced, suggesting that the Winter Gate has once again become active, allowing creatures from the Feydark to spill into the Wyngate Forest.
The goblins now infesting the forest are believed to be from the Feydark, sent out with the intent to expand and conquer the surrounding territories. What started as scattered reports from nearby villages of missing livestock and woodsmen has escalated into a full-blown invasion, with Goblin warbands and their worg mounts spreading chaos throughout the forest. The goblins' raids have become more organized, and their numbers have grown, hinting at a larger force directing their efforts from within the Feydark itself.
In response to this growing threat, High Queen Aislinn Dunaid has dispatched troops to join the battle against the goblin infestation. Leading the charge is the halfling Grand Druid Wemry Pimhorn, a respected figure known for his deep connection to the land and mastery over nature’s magic. Pimhorn commands both the natural forces of the forest and the troops sent by the High Queen, waging an ongoing war to push the goblins back and close the Winter Gate once more.
Despite the military efforts, Wyngate remains a dangerous place for anyone who ventures too far into its depths. The forest is thick with traps, hidden goblin ambushes, and the lurking presence of other Feydark creatures. There is also a palpable sense of otherworldly menace, as if the forest itself is awakening to the power of the Feydark once more.
Though the Old Gods are honored in nearby villages, the influence of the Feydark has brought new layers of fear for ancient forces beyond the mortal realm. Druids and local leaders pray for protection as they strive to defend their homes from the encroaching darkness of Wyngate Forest. The battle for control of the forest is ongoing, and the outcome may determine whether this ancient, dark force will once again spread its shadow across the Moontide Isles.
