Caer Llylmar

Caer Llylmar, the capital of the Kingdom of Lochmoor, stands as a testament to the resilience and strength of its people, who endure some of the harshest conditions on the Isle of Glanmoor. Situated in the northern part of the isle, the city is battered by cold winds and harsh weather, making life here more challenging than in the southern kingdoms. Yet, the people of Caer Llylmar are hardy and fiercely independent, shaped by the rugged landscape that surrounds them.   The castle, the seat of Petty Queen Halfrid Holmdottir, is fortified by a sturdy wooden palisade and a stone gate, providing both protection and a sense of defiance in the face of the elements. Queen Halfrid, born of a union between a Daoine and a Northlander, embodies the dual heritage of Caer Llylmar, where both Northlander and Daoine cultures coexist, though not always without tension. The castle overlooks the city and the surrounding lands, standing as a symbol of strength and the Northlander’s fierce loyalty to their queen.   To the west of the city lies Kingsbay, a vital link to trade and sea travel, while to the south is Dainloch, and to the east, Lisloch. These nearby regions often interact with Caer Llylmar, but it is the city itself that remains the cultural and political heart of the kingdom.   The population of Caer Llylmar is a unique blend of Northlanders and Daoine, resulting in a city that reflects both cultures. Northlander longhouses stand beside more Daoine-style homes, and the people’s way of life is a mix of these two influences. Despite this balance, tensions exist between Lochmoor and the broader Moontide Isles, as many Northlanders believe that High Queen Aislinn Dunaid favors the interests of the southern Daoine over their own. This belief has led to occasional unrest and political friction between the Kingdom of Lochmoor and the High Queen’s court.   The people of Caer Llylmar are known for their resilience. Living in a land that is colder and more dangerous than most of the Moontide Isles, they have developed a fierce sense of pride and self-reliance. The surrounding lands are wild and treacherous, with unpredictable weather and rugged terrain, but these challenges have only strengthened the resolve of the city’s inhabitants.   Despite the harsh environment, the city’s connection to both the mountains and the sea offers plenty of opportunities. The Northlander seafaring traditions remain strong in Kingsbay, while the Daoine’s agricultural skills bring life to the fertile, albeit cold, lands surrounding the city. This duality of culture and climate has made Caer Llylmar a unique and formidable capital within the Kingdom of Lochmoor.
