Fjarhorn

Fjarhorn is a hardy Northerner port town situated in the far northern reaches of the Kingdom of Lochmoor on the Isle of Glanmoor. Despite the relative safety of the bay on which it rests, the town is exposed to some of the harshest weather on Glanmoor. Constantly battered by freezing winds, snowstorms, and the relentless bite of the northern sea, Fjarhorn’s people are resilient and fiercely independent, living in conditions that few others on the isle could endure.   The town itself is constructed to withstand the elements, with sturdy wooden and stone structures, built low to the ground to reduce exposure to the biting winds. Thick thatched roofs, insulated walls, and roaring hearths provide warmth in the frigid climate. The people of Fjarhorn are experienced sailors and fishermen, making their living from the cold, nutrient-rich waters of the bay. Despite the dangers of the weather, the bay is relatively calm and has become a lifeline for the town, providing bountiful fishing hauls that are traded throughout the kingdom.   Fjarhorn’s docks are filled with longships and sturdy fishing vessels, their crews hardened by the freezing waters and unforgiving conditions of the northern seas. The port itself is a vital connection to the rest of Lochmoor, especially for trade, though the journeys to and from Fjarhorn are often perilous due to the ever-changing weather. Those who brave the seas are known for their skill and toughness, traits that define the town’s reputation throughout the northern lands.   The people of Fjarhorn hold close ties to their Northlander traditions, and the Old Gods are deeply revered here, especially Ran, The Deep Queen, and Siv Arnidottir, the Maiden of Ice, a hero-god venerated for her strength and bravery in the face of the cold north. Offerings to these deities are made before setting out on voyages, and festivals are held to celebrate the endurance of the town through another year of harsh weather.   Despite the challenges posed by the environment, Fjarhorn’s people are proud of their heritage and their ability to thrive where others might falter. The town is a symbol of Northerner resilience, where survival against the odds is a way of life, and the bay continues to provide both sustenance and opportunity for the town’s inhabitants.
