Caer Cranog

Caer Cranog, the bustling capital and port city of the Kingdom of Wicklow, sits proudly on the western coast of the Isle of Glanmoor. As a thriving center of trade and governance, it commands the sea routes that connect the island to its neighboring isle of Baeddon, with Caer Cenwynn across the waters to the west. The city’s position on the coast makes it a critical hub for maritime trade and defense, its ports constantly busy with ships carrying goods from across the Moontide Isles.   The architecture of Caer Cranog is both grand and functional, with sturdy stone walls surrounding the city and its castle. The port is lined with well-maintained docks and bustling markets, while the city itself spreads out in a series of districts that house traders, artisans, and government officials. A prominent lighthouse at the harbor entrance, known as The Flame of Wicklow, is dedicated to Belenos, the god of light and truth, ensuring the safe arrival of ships and guiding those lost at sea. Many sailors offer prayers or small tokens to Belenos before setting out on long voyages.   To the north of the city lies Stagford Wood, a vast and ancient forest that is home to the elven city of A'vamel. While the elves of A'vamel maintain a degree of separation from the human kingdom, there is a mutual respect and occasional trade between the two. The people of Caer Cranog hold the forest in reverence, believing it to be a place of deep magic and mystery. Aine, deity of the arts, spring, and fey, is often invoked by those who travel to Stagford, hoping to gain the favor of the elves or to avoid the tricks of the fey.   To the east is Gragin Wood, a less mystical but still important forest for the people of Wicklow, providing timber and resources for the kingdom. The local druids are known to hold ceremonies within Gragin Wood, calling upon the Old Gods to bless the land and ensure its continued bounty.   Shrines to Midone, goddess of roads and commerce, are frequently visited by the many traders and merchants who pass through the city, while those seeking protection for their journeys often turn to The Red Knight, goddess of war and strategy.   Caer Cranog stands as a vibrant and essential city for the Kingdom of Wicklow, blending the practicalities of trade and governance with the deep-rooted spiritual traditions that permeate the Moontide Isles.
