Mindenland

Mindenland, officially the Grand Duchy of Mindenland, is a founding Imperial Province of The Empire of Man that once lied in the current lands of the Vale. Towering above the cities is the Blu Mountain, atop which sits the fortress city of Mindenheim, capital of Mindenland and the sacred city of Baalzaac, the god of war, lightning, gryphons, and power.

Baalzaac is the patron god of lightning of the empire and it is atop this mountain where his power is met most. His lightning strikes the peak of the blu and in ancient time, any who survived this would be made king. It is also on this mountain that one of the strongest creatures dwells. The Gryphon. These beasts are a symbol of power and virtue in the empire. These creatures are seen as the servants of Baalzaac, for the great power they wield. With the banner of Mindenland on their shields, the powerful army garrisons the many fortresses in the land and for this Mindenland is known as the Walled Province.

History

Mindenlanders are the descendants of the stalwart Asirgargians tribe. They carved out a kingdom in the blu mountains with it being the center of all power. They refused any relations with other tribes and when war came, they were feared for their powerful warriors with the strength of 10 men. Just like their ancestors, Mindenlanders are stubborn and tend to keep to themselves. but can be depended on when conflict turns violent and they're involved.

Mindenland politics is crude, rabble-rousing element that doesn't exist so much in other provinces. At their worst Mindenlanders are a fractious, intolerant group of individuals. They are quick to mock those they see as foppish, weak, foolish folk, they are extremely suspicious of foreign influence upon their province.

During the Era of Turmoil, the east of the midlands united as one, centered in Mindenland. Mindenland, Söölland, Marienburg and Eisengard formed the Bauin Empire, also known as the Minden Empire. Of the five empires, the Bauin Empire was the most unstable, as the faith of united provinces were vastly different, often leading to civil war and a change in the faith and center of power, from Marienburg to Mindenland and back. The Faith would change between Narvola the goddess of the sea and Baalzaac god of Lightning.

Disbandment

In the foreboding year of 9666 AC, Emperor Leopold IX, the Imperial Prince of Mindenland newly elected as emperor, was faced with a major dilemma. The Aasimar of Aedorica sailed to the empire with a large war host with the intent to claim lands for their own. Leopold was untested in the crucible of war, and hastily marshaled his forces to confront the encroaching Aasimar threat. However, in his eagerness to defend his homeland, Leopold rushed headlong into battle, unaware of the cunning and might of his celestial adversaries. The clash between the imperial forces and the Aasimar warhost proved to be a event that would linger to this day, culminating in a decisive battle. Despite the valiant efforts of the Imperial army, the Aasimar emerged victorious, their celestial prowess and divine blessings overwhelming the defenders and claiming the life of Emperor Leopold IX in the heat of the conflict.

With the fall of the the emperor and the lost of the Runickfang of Mindenland, the Aasimar seized control of Mindenland, swiftly establishing their dominion over the conquered territory. They proclaimed the birth of a new nation known as the Vale, a sanctuary where Aasimar could thrive free from the constraints of mortal rule. To fortify their newfound realm, the Aasimar erected a towering magical dome that enveloped the entire land, sealing it off from the outside world and warding against any attempts at intrusion or escape. Within the span of a mere year, the once-proud province of Mindenland had fallen to the Aasimar onslaught, its lands now transformed into the heartland of the burgeoning Vale.
