Runickfang

A Runickfang is one of the twelve magical swords which serve as the badges of office of the Imperial Princes of The Empire of Man.

History

The Runickfangs were created by the renowed Dwarf Runesmith Torvin the Silver, and were intended for the 12 tribal leaders of men that had united under the first Emperor of Man Sieghardt- God Emperor's rule. However such was the skill and time required to make them, that it was not until over 400 years after the defeat of Gluk Blood-Axe that Torvin was able to deliver them all to the new Emperor. Runickfangs are blades of unsurpassed power able to carve through adamantine and dragon scale.

Although there are 12 Runickfangs, there are currently only 6 Imperial Princes. The province of Hessmark and Triaus were lost during the Great Waaagh!. Although the Runickfang of Hessmark was saved before it was lost, the Runickfang of Triaus was lost forever. Waaagh! took the sword(along with the Imperial Prince's head) as a trophy. The Runickfang of Marienburg was lost during the Final Siege of Marienburg when emperor Karsten II tried to flee into the ocean with it, where he and all his cargo were lost forever. The final Runickfang to be lost was the one of Mindenland and it was lost during the Aasimar Conquest, when it was wielded by emperor Leopold IX who was slain in battle with it, it was stolen by the Aasimar before they created the Vale and sealed entrance and exit to it.

Today the Runickfangs are divided amongst the Imperial Princes, the imperial princes that lost their Runickfang are granted the ones of lost provinces, and the excess ones being kept in the imperial armoury, sometimes being granted to a high ranking general during dire times.
