The Empire of Man

"Three things make the Empire great; faith, steel, and Gunpowder" -Emperor of Man Hogan the Wise
The Empire, formally known as the Empire of Man, and named the "Land of the Hammer" by those in Aedorica, "Grand Provinces" or "Eastern Provinces" by those in Continent of Empires/Paros and Rodinia, and the "Princely States" by those in Vlunia. The Empire is the oldest and most powerful nation of Mortals.

More than 13000 years ago, the warrior-king and Mortal God Sieghardt- God Emperor united the primitive Human barbarian tribes to form the Empire across the lands that now bear its name. While lacking the craftsmanship of the Dwarfs or the magical prowess of the High Elf race or the strong fortitude of Immortals , the Empire's people are not bound by tradition to the same degree as the other races. Instead, they embrace cultural, technological, and magical advancement with fervor.

The Empire remains unyielding against all threats, both external and internal, it is the unwavering faith, inherent righteousness, and indomitable spirit of its citizens. Additionally, the Empire draws strength from the disciplined and efficient military and religious institutions that enforce its authority. Governed by a monarch known as the "Emperor of Man" or simply "Emperor," the Empire is comprised of the descendants of the ancient tribes once part of The Confederation of Man, the coalition that was formed by the legendary Human warrior Sieghardt Heldenhammer more than 13000 years ago to overthrow the formidable Orc Overlord Gluk Blood- Axe.

After his death, Sieghardt's legacy transcended mortal bounds as his people, awed by his legendary feats, elevated him to the status of a deity. Revered for his unparalleled strength, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his people, Sieghardt became a symbol of divine protection and guidance for the generations. Through countless tales and legends passed down through the ages, Sieghardt's deification has solidified his place in the hearts and minds of his followers as the greatest of all the deities.

Presently, the Emperor Theodoric the Old holds dominion over the Empire, presiding from the regal halls of the Imperial capital, Helgendorf. Divided into seven provincial states currently, the Empire's governance rests upon feudal lords titled Duke or Imperial Prince, whose authority stems from the overarching sovereignty of the Emperor. It's important to understand that the Empire isn't a singular centralized entity, but rather a confederation of distinct feudal territories, bound by a common language, Theodic, a shared reverence for Sieghardt- God Emperor, and a unified Imperial culture. These provincial divisions echo the ancient tribal lands brought together under Sieghardt's banner to vanquish the Orcish threat.

Life within the Empire is fraught with danger, as threats lurk within every shadow and adversaries loom around every bend. Whispers of clandestine cults echo through the land, shrouding communities in an atmosphere of suspicion and uncertainty. Trust is a scarce commodity, with fear and paranoia reigning supreme in the secluded hamlets scattered throughout the Empire's provinces, far removed from the protection of the grand Imperial cities.

Structure

At the pinnacle of the Empire's hierarchy stands the Emperor (or Empress), known formally as the Emperor of Man and, more recently, as the Emperor-Elect. This sovereign ruler is chosen through a majority vote of seventeen Imperial Princes and crowned by the Grand Vicar of the Cult of Sieghardt.

Next in importance is the Imperial Chamber, housing key government figures tasked with managing issues that require immediate attention or are beneath the Emperor's direct purview. They also serve as the main advisors for the emperor on stately matters. While the Emperor holds the authority to enact laws, their power is tempered by the Imperial Council, a body comprising influential nobles representing various realms within the Empire. These council members advise the Emperor and act as intermediaries for their respective lords.

The Imperial Council consists of elected officials chosen by the second most powerful group in the Empire—the Imperial Princes. These nobles, possessing authority second only to the Emperor, also hold the responsibility of electing the next monarch in the event of the incumbent's passing.

Beneath the imperial princes are the myriad noble houses, responsible for governing smaller territories. These houses include counts, barons, abbots, bishops, grafs, and others.

The Emperor delegates significant state matters to the Imperial Chamber, while being advised on laws by the Imperial Council, which reports back to the imperial princes responsible for electing the monarch. Below them, the lords of the churches, imperial city-states, and castles hold sway. Each duke, count, and baron enjoys a degree of autonomy in ruling their territories, although imperial law supersedes princely laws and lesser laws.

Culture

The culture of the Empire of Man is steeped in tradition, valor, and reverence for its storied history. At its core lies a deep sense of loyalty to the Empire and its ruling monarch, as well as a profound respect for the legacy of Sieghardt- God Emperor, the warrior-king and Mortal God who founded the realm.

Honoring the past is a central tenet of Imperialculture, with rituals and ceremonies paying homage to heroes of old and commemorating significant historical events. These traditions serve to instill a strong sense of identity and cohesion among the Empire's citizens, fostering a shared pride in their collective heritage.

Martial prowess is highly esteemed within Imperial society, with military service considered a noble calling. Warriors are revered as defenders of the realm and champions of its values, and tales of valor and heroism are celebrated in song and story.

Religion also plays a significant role in Imperial culture, with the Cult of Sieghardt serving as the dominant faith. Devotion to Sieghardt, the deified founder of the Empire, is widespread, and religious rites and observances are integral to daily life.

In addition to martial and religious pursuits, the arts flourish within the Empire, with poetry, music, and craftsmanship held in high regard. Skilled artisans and performers are esteemed for their talent and creativity, and their works often reflect themes of honor, courage, and the enduring spirit of the Empire.

Despite its reverence for tradition, the Empire is not stagnant, and innovation and progress are encouraged in all aspects of life. Scholars and intellectuals are respected for their pursuit of knowledge, and advancements in science, magic, and technology are eagerly embraced to further the Empire's prosperity and security.

Public Agenda

Under Emperor Theodoric the Old's reign, the Empire prioritizes maintaining balance, promoting peace, ensuring order, fostering prosperity, protecting the vulnerable, and cultivating unity.

Assets

The assets of the Empire include vast expanses of fertile land, rich mineral resources, thriving trade routes, fortified cities, formidable military forces, advanced magical and technological knowledge, prestigious institutions of learning, and a resilient populace united under a shared culture and faith.

History

The Founding and a Divine Mission

Since the year 1453 AC, the world has been embroiled in the cataclysmic conflict known as the Great God War, a relentless struggle between gods, deities, Immortals, and Mortals sparked by the malevolent machinations of the god of war, Babel- God of War. This epoch of turmoil saw the very fabric of reality torn asunder as divine powers clashed in a bid for supremacy. In this age of upheaval, immortals outnumbered mortals, and gods walked among mortals, shaping the destinies of nations and civilizations. For the mortal populace, life became a precarious existence, as they found themselves at the mercy of beings far superior in strength and longevity. Mortals, bereft of immortal protection, often fell victim to the whims of their godly overlords, their lives hanging in the balance amidst the chaos of war.

However, amidst this turmoil, one region stood as a curious anomaly amidst the devastation of the Great God War: the subcontinent of Rodinia, situated in the southern reaches of the continent of Vlunia. Despite its significant mortal population, Rodinia remained relatively untouched by the ravages of war, a testament to its lack of strategic importance in the eyes of the warring powers. Rodinia served as a haven for disparate mortal tribes, a melting pot of humanity alongside giants, elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, and beastfolk. While the rest of the world was engulfed in conflict, Rodinia became a hotspot for deserters, warlords, pirates, and other renegades seeking refuge or plunder amidst the chaos.

As the Great God War raged on through the centuries, new powers emerged on the global stage, such as the forces of the undead led by the nefarious lich lord, Nebuchadnezzar- Vampire God, and the burgeoning Han Empire under Ur Yu - Lord of the Dao. Despite their best efforts, The Three Goddesses, revered as peacekeepers of the world, found themselves outmatched by the combined might of Babel and Nebuchadnezzar.

Desperate to turn the tide of war in their favor, the Three Goddesses embarked on a radical course of action, seeking to find a champion among mortals, the tribes of Rodinia took notice and among these tribes, the Theodoricings brought their greatest attention, led by Chief Wichimann Theodoricing, held sway over a vast swath of territory in the eastern reaches of Rodinia. It was amidst the chaos of tribal warfare that a prophecy foretold the birth of a child destined for greatness. Chief Wichimann's son, Sieghardt, was born under the auspices of a divine omen, his arrival heralded by the Protos Supernova, a sign of great portent.

From a young age, Sieghardt was marked by destiny, guided by visions from the gods to unite the fractured tribes of Rodinia. As he came of age, Sieghardt embarked on a quest to forge alliances with neighboring tribes, rallying them to his cause in the face of the looming threat posed by Gluk Blood-Axe, the dreaded orcish Overlord. In a monumental clash at the Krum Mountains, Sieghardt and The Confederation of Man faced off against the BloodCruzherz in a battle for the fate of Rodinia. Though outnumbered and outmatched, Sieghardt's unwavering resolve and divine intervention turned the tide of battle. As Sieghardt fell in combat, his sacrifice was not in vain, for the gods bestowed upon him their divine blessings, transforming him into a champion of unparalleled power. Reborn anew as the wielder of Ghal Maraz, Sieghardt vanquished Gluk Blood-Axe and routed the orcish horde, securing victory for the Confederation of Men.

Yet, even in the aftermath of triumph, Sieghardt knew that his true mission lay ahead: to bring an end to the Great God War and restore peace to a world torn asunder by strife and conflict. With Ghal Maraz in hand and the blessings of the gods upon him, Sieghardt embarked on a quest to fulfill his divine mandate, his destiny intertwined with the fate of all creation.

Following the resounding victory over Gluk Blood-Axe and the establishment of the empire, Sieghardt was tasked with a divine mission: to bring an end to the Great God War and serve as the vanguard for the forces aligned with The Three Goddesses. Central to this monumental task was the eradication of the relentless undead legions commanded by Nebuchadnezzar, the dread Liche Lord who held sway over the hearts of darkness. Armed with the god hammer Ghal Maraz, Sieghardt embarked on a relentless campaign against the undead, leading his forces northward in pursuit of their malevolent master. The potency of Ghal Maraz proved itself as a formidable weapon against the undead, disrupting their unholy resurrection and shattering their ranks with unyielding force. The Empire of Man, bolstered by Sieghardt's unwavering leadership, rallied behind their Emperor as they marched onward to confront the heart of darkness.

For decades, Sieghardt and his legions clashed with the undead armies, pushing back the tide of darkness wherever it threatened to engulf the land. With each hard-fought victory, the empire expanded, its borders stretching ever farther as Sieghardt steadily advanced toward the citadel of Nakhan, the stronghold of Nebuchadnezzar's power. The climax of the conflict approached as Sieghardt stood on the precipice of destiny, facing Nebuchadnezzar in a showdown of titanic proportions. With Ghal Maraz in hand and the hopes of his people resting upon his shoulders, Sieghardt engaged in a duel with the Liche Lord, his determination unyielding in the face of darkness. In the crucible of battle, temptation reared its insidious head as Sieghardt briefly donned the Crown of Sorcery, a relic of untold power that promised dominion over the forces of necromancy. Yet, Sieghardt cast aside the crown, rejecting the allure of dark magic and reaffirming his commitment to righteousness.

The duel itself was a spectacle of martial prowess and arcane might, as Sieghardt and Nebuchadnezzar clashed in a whirlwind of steel and sorcery. Despite the Liche Lord's formidable powers, Sieghardt remained resolute, his skillful combat maneuvers and unwavering resolve proving to be his greatest weapons. In a decisive moment, Sieghardt seized the opportunity presented by Nebuchadnezzar's arrogance, delivering a fatal blow that brought an end to the undead king's reign of terror. With the defeat of Nebuchadnezzar, the forces of darkness were dealt a crippling blow, heralding a new dawn of hope for humanity in the midst of the Great God War. With the undead threat vanquished, Sieghardt and the Empire of Man turned their attention toward the true adversary: Babel- God of War, whose machinations continued to sow chaos and destruction across the world. Renewed in their determination and emboldened by their recent triumph, Sieghardt and his allies prepared to confront the ultimate challenge, knowing that the fate of the world hung in the balance.

As Sieghardt- God Emperor led his armies across the tumultuous seas to confront Babel, the God of War, the world braced itself for another brutal chapter in the Great God War. Decades of relentless campaigning followed, with Sieghardt and his forces relentlessly pursuing Babel's remaining strongholds. Yet, despite their unwavering determination, the conflict showed no signs of abating, each battle leaving behind a trail of death and devastation. Finally, the stage was set for the ultimate showdown in the Bloodlands, a desolate and forsaken realm where the last vestiges of Babel's power lay entrenched. Here, amidst the barren wastes and the echoes of countless battles, the fate of the world would be decided.

As Sieghardt and Babel clashed on the battlefield of Storm's Hold, the very fabric of reality seemed to tremble under the weight of their godly conflict. Babel, a force of unparalleled destruction, unleashed his divine fury upon friend and foe alike, his martial prowess unmatched in its ferocity. Into this maelstrom of chaos stepped Sieghardt, the god-emperor, ready to meet Babel head-on and determine the course of history. The duel that ensued transcended mortal comprehension, a cosmic ballet of divine forces colliding in a spectacle that defied description. Lightning crackled and thunder roared as Sieghardt wielded Ghal Maraz, channeling its divine essence to deliver mighty blows against the God of War. The clash of their weapons reverberated across dimensions, shaking the very foundations of existence. With each strike, the forces of light and darkness collided in a cataclysmic struggle for supremacy, the fate of the realms hanging in the balance.

In a moment that seemed to stretch for eternity, Sieghardt summoned the last reserves of his godly strength and delivered a monumental blow with Ghal Maraz, striking a decisive blow against Babel. The God of War, vanquished, fell beneath the crushing weight of the mighty hammer, his reign of terror brought to an end. Triumphant, Sieghardt raised Ghal Maraz high, proclaiming victory to all who bore witness. Yet, even in his moment of triumph, the toll of the battle became apparent. Ghal Maraz slipped from Sieghardt's grasp, falling to the ground, while the god-emperor himself succumbed to the wounds incurred during the titanic clash.

In their mutual destruction, Sieghardt and Babel brought an end to the Great God War, their sacrifices and the legends forged during this epochal conflict eternally remembered as shaping the destiny of the realms for ages to come.

The Terrible Times(2000- 2304AC)

With the demise of Babel- God of War at the hands of Sieghardt- God Emperor, the epoch of the Great God War drew to a close, heralding the dawn of the Second Age. Sieghardt had conquered the continents of Vlunia and Aedorica in order to defeat Nebuchadnezzar- Vampire God and Babel. This vast empire had lost its founder and was left with his only son. This son named after him inherited his father's divine mantle but not his virtuous spirit. Prince Sieghardt as he would later be called ascended to power, marking the inception of a dark chapter known as the Tyrannical Era, which endured for 304 years. Under Sieghardt's despotic rule, The Empire of Man, spanning vast territories across Vlunia and Aedorica, became a realm shrouded in fear, tyranny, and unspeakable atrocities.

After the Great God War, the world was left with the Zine Empire in the Continent of Empires/Paros, the Han Empire in Ur, The Empire of Man in the north and thousands of Immortals nations and tribes in Paros. But the world was controlled by three massive empires. As the largest among the three remaining empires the Empire of Man exerted its influence over the world, fueled by Prince Sieghardt's insatiable appetite for domination. Wars ignited between the empires, with Sieghardt orchestrating conflicts to expand his domain and quench his thirst for power.

For the first two centuries Prince Sieghardt maintained his vast empire and exerted his influence upon the world. But the vastness of the empire and Prince Sieghardt's arbitrary ways would lead to constant rebellions within the empire. And after a string of defeats and successful rebellions in Aedorica , Prince Sieghardt's demeanor shifted from assertive governance to indifference, indulging in lavish revelries while neglecting his imperial duties. For later years of the era, when a rebellion sprung up, Prince Sieghardt would care little and focus more on his decadent parties rather than ruling. Prince Sieghardt only cared to rule when he was in a good mood, and due to his long life span this could take years. In one instantance Prince Sieghardt was in a foul mood for 47 years straight due to a servant stepping on his foot, and so for these 47 years, any rebellion would meet little to no resistance from the empire, and any unlucky servants that dared talked to him while he was in foul mood could be met with death or endless torture.

In the year 2297, the Empire found itself stripped of its Aedorican and most Vlunian territories, save for the Rodinian subcontinent, as rebellions proliferated against the despotic reign of Prince Sieghardt. Despite the Empire's diminished stature, Sieghardt's tyranny still cast a pall over the world, even as he indulged in extravagant revelries and debauchery. The Imperial heartland remained an oasis of compliance, shielded from rebellion by Sieghardt's arbitrary enforcement during his hedonistic feasts.   The populace's fear of challenging the god-like Prince stemmed from the scarcity of Immortals in the wake of the Great God War, leaving Mortalss vulnerable and powerless against his rule. Yet, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of Ghal Maraz, the legendary hammer of the god emperor, which held the potential to counter his reign of terror. However Prince Sieghardt would always have the hammer by his side, having it atop him while he sits on his throne, beside his bed while he slumbers, it was impossible to obtain. But if they could acquire the hammer, they could stand a chance against Prince Sieghardt. Recognizing this opportunity, An intelligent noble by the name of Klaus devised a daring plan to seize the hammer and weaken Sieghardt's grip on power.

With Klaus's scheme enacted successfully, a coalition of rebels, emboldened by the possession of Ghal Maraz, rose up against Prince Sieghardt's tyranny. Allies from neighboring realms and former territories flocked to their cause, united in their determination to rid the world of the tyrant's oppression. The War of Freedom as it was called, Klaus with Ghal Maraz in hand alongside his allies, defeated Prince Sieghardt and deposed him, however he would escape execution and flee into obscurity. But with his global position gone the world was victorious and an end to his despotic rule, which ushered in an era of newfound freedom. Klaus would be hailed as Klaus the Savior and made the title of Emperor of Man of The Empire of Man into Emperor-Elect, new nations would form and the world breathed a huge sigh of relief with getting rid of the most terrible of tyrants.

Golden Age of the Empire(2304-3000)

During the Golden Age of the Empire, prosperity and innovation flourished, marking a period of unprecedented growth and influence throughout the world. Beginning with the enlightened leadership of Emperor Klaus the Savior, the Empire of Man experienced a renaissance of culture, science, and commerce.

Economic prosperity was widespread, fueled by flourishing trade networks that spanned continents. The Empire's strategic location at the crossroads of major trade routes facilitated the exchange of goods, ideas, and culture with distant lands. Cities thrived as centers of commerce and industry, bustling with activity as artisans, merchants, and traders contributed to the wealth of the empire.

Scientific advancement also reached new heights during the Golden Age. It was during the rule of Emperor Franz the Lawgiver that one of the greatest aspects of Imperial culture was discovered, Gunpowder. The empire's scholars made groundbreaking discoveries in fields such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and engineering. Under Joseph the Scholar, universities and academies flourished, serving as hubs of learning and innovation where scholars collaborated to unlock the mysteries of the natural world. Technological innovation propelled the Empire's military prowess to new heights, ensuring its dominance on the battlefield. Advancements in metallurgy, siegecraft, and military strategy gave the imperial legions a formidable edge over their adversaries. The Empire's military might served as a deterrent to would-be aggressors, safeguarding its borders and preserving peace within its territories.

Civic infrastructure also underwent significant improvement during this period. Public works projects, including roads, bridges, aqueducts, and public buildings, were constructed with meticulous planning and engineering prowess. These infrastructure projects facilitated communication, transportation, and trade, further stimulating economic growth and societal development.

Social reforms aimed at promoting justice, equality, and prosperity for all citizens contributed to the Empire's stability and cohesion. Legal codes were codified and enforced impartially, ensuring that the rule of law prevailed throughout the realm. Education and healthcare were prioritized, with initiatives aimed at improving literacy rates and providing access to medical care for all citizens.

Plague Wars(3111-3124AC)

Amidst the darkness and despair of the Dark Times of the Second Age, a new horror emerged to plague the already-stricken world. In the year 3111 AC, the Zine Empire became the epicenter of a devastating pandemic that would come to be known by many names: the Black Death, the God-Killing Plague, the Great Rot. No corner of the world remained untouched by its merciless grip as it spread like wildfire, leaving devastation and death in its wake.

This deadly plague was no mere natural phenomenon but a deliberate act of malice perpetrated by an individual known as Kan-Xib-Yui Plaguefather, a devoted servant of Ah Puch- God of Decay and Ailments. Under the dark patronage of his deity, Kan unleashed the disease upon the world, seeking to spread filth, disease, and despair to please his malevolent master. As the pandemic raged unabated, entire civilizations teetered on the brink of collapse, their once-great cities reduced to rubble and their populations decimated by sickness and death. The Empire, once a beacon of strength and unity, was no exception, as its majestic cities like Helgendorf and Holstein succumbed to the ravages of the plague. But the horrors of the Black Death were not confined to sickness and death alone. Kan-Xib-Yui Plaguefather marshaled his diseased hordes to wage war upon the world, unleashing armies of filth and disease to spread chaos and destruction. The Empire, in particular, found itself besieged on all fronts, as Kan nursed a personal grudge against its people.

In the face of overwhelming adversity, hope emerged from the east in the form of Sööl Graf Roland von Welf, the Imperial Prince of Söölland. Rallying what forces he could muster, Roland led a valiant resistance against the plague army's siege on Söölstrum, standing firm against the tide of decay that threatened to engulf the empire. For nine long years, Roland and his forces waged a desperate struggle against the plague-ridden armies of Kan, battling tooth and nail to reclaim their homeland from the clutches of darkness. Finally, in the decisive battle of Nicopagra in 3124 AC, Roland's valor and determination proved triumphant as he shattered the decay armies and sent them fleeing in terror. In the aftermath of the Plague Wars, Roland von Welf was hailed as Emperor Roland Plaguebane, a hero who had saved the empire from the brink of annihilation. Yet, the cost of victory was steep, with vast swathes of land laid to waste and countless lives lost to the ravages of disease.

As Roland embarked upon the arduous task of reconstruction, he faced immense challenges in rebuilding the empire from the ashes of devastation. Despite his best efforts, much knowledge and wisdom were lost in the chaos of war, leaving scars that would never fully heal. Roland's reign as emperor was marked by strength, resolve, and a commitment to justice, earning him the respect and admiration of his subjects. However, his noble legacy was tragically cut short when he fell victim to assassination by a mysterious assailant, leaving the empire without a clear successor.

In the vacuum of power that followed, the imperial princes seized upon the opportunity to assert their own ambitions, ushering in an era of political intrigue and manipulation known as the Age of Puppets. As the throne of the empire became a pawn in the hands of ambitious nobles, the unity of humanity hung in the balance, teetering on the brink of collapse.

Age of the Five Emperors(3359-4812AC)

In the year 3359 AC, the Empire of Man entered a tumultuous era known as the Era of Turmoil, a period marked by division, strife, and the fracturing of imperial unity. Emperor Wido's ascension to the imperial throne was met with controversy and dissent, particularly from the ambitious Imperial Prince of Morigana, Deion. Convinced that he was the rightful heir to the imperial mantle, Deion denounced Wido's election as rigged and demanded a re-vote. However, his protests fell on deaf ears as the influential Cult of Sieghardt, staunch supporters of Wido, affirmed his legitimacy as emperor. Fueled by his sense of entitlement and outrage, Deion defiantly declared himself emperor of the newly-formed Deion Empire, with the support of the imperial prince of Raaroland. This act of secession marked a historic departure from imperial tradition, plunging the empire into a state of chaos and uncertainty.

Emperor Wido, determined to quash the rebellion and maintain the empire's unity, marshaled his armies and marched north to confront Deion's forces. However, at the pivotal battle of Clanse, Wido suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Deion, signaling the dawn of a new era of conflict and division. The Age of the Five Emperors soon witnessed the emergence of five distinct Imperial factions, each centered around a different religious faith and vying for supremacy over the fractured empire. The Deion Empire, the Parsian Empire, the Bert Empire, the Bauin Empire, and the Wolf Empire each espoused their own distinct ideologies and beliefs, drawing followers from among the empire's diverse populace.   The major religious organization had always been sidelined in place of the Cult of Sieghardt, which not only wielded the most power around the empire, but as well as the only faith to be able to vote for the Emperor, the greatest of privilege. Even the Cult of Dyre specifically, the second largest didn't have a vote. The Cult of Sieghardt, long accustomed to wielding unparalleled influence and power within the empire, found itself challenged by the rise of these rival religious organizations. Each empire formed in opposition to the perceived dominance of the cult, seeking to establish its own sphere of influence based on its preferred faith. The Parsian empire followed Morr- God of Blood, the wolf Empire followed Dyre, the Bert Empire followed Sieghardt- God Emperor, The Bauin empire switched between Narvola the goddess of the sea and Baalzaac god of Lightning of the Old Rodinia Pantheon, and the Deion Empire followed Freya.   As the empires clashed in a series of brutal wars and territorial disputes, the dream of a united Empire of Man seemed increasingly distant and unattainable. Centuries of civil strife and internal conflict left the empire weakened and fragmented, its once-great cities reduced to ruins and its people divided by mistrust and animosity.

Great Peasant Rebellion(4096-4109AC)

The Great Peasant Rebellion erupted as a spontaneous uprising against the oppressive rule of the nobility, fueled by centuries of exploitation, hardship, and suffering endured by the common people. Beginning in the city of Salzburg within the Wolf Empire, the rebellion quickly spread like wildfire, igniting similar uprisings across the lands and transcending the boundaries of empires. In Salzburg, the impoverished peasants had long borne the brunt of constant invasions, exorbitant taxation, and brutal oppression imposed by their noble overlords. Faced with dire circumstances and unrelenting misery, the peasants reached a breaking point and rose up in defiance against their oppressors.

The initial spark of rebellion occurred when the peasants, emboldened by their desperation and righteous anger, stormed the lord's stronghold in Salzburg and executed him. This bold act of defiance sent shockwaves throughout the region, prompting the nobility to muster their forces and crush the burgeoning rebellion. However, the nobles' attempts to suppress the uprising were met with unexpected resistance. As the peasant armies swelled in numbers, drawing support from disenfranchised commoners and even defecting soldiers disillusioned with their lords, the tide of the conflict began to shift in favor of the rebels. With each successive victory against the nobility, the peasants gained momentum and confidence, emboldening them to march from city to city, rallying more supporters to their cause and spreading the flames of rebellion far and wide
.
As the rebellion spread beyond the Wolf Empire's borders, engulfing neighboring realms and empires, chaos and bloodshed ensued on an unprecedented scale. Thousands of peasants took up arms against their oppressors, engaging in fierce battles and skirmishes that left countless lives lost and landscapes scarred. The climax of the rebellion came with the demise of Emperor Baldrick of the Bauin Empire, who met a gruesome end at the hands of vengeful peasants who burned him alive. His son, Chrodegang, ascended to the imperial throne and unleashed a reign of terror and brutality that surpassed even the darkest nightmares.

Under Chrodegang's ruthless rule, the peasantry faced merciless reprisals and relentless persecution, as the emperor sought to eradicate any semblance of dissent and crush the spirit of rebellion once and for all. Employing elite foreign mercenaries and unleashing his armies with unrestrained fury, Chrodegang went on a massacring campaign compared to the great murder of Khaine- God of Murder. No peasant, men, women or child was safe from his wrath and no land safe. He marched his armies even to the other empires to kill as many peasants as possible. He would burn entire villages even if they sided with him or were uninvolved. This Brutality terrified the peasants all across the lands, for they feared that Chrodegang would come to destroy them. Chrodegang had no care for any, he was seen as the embodiment of Khaine, dubbed by many as the "Generation Killer" and "Peasant Burner," Chrodegang's atrocities instilled fear and terror across the lands, as entire generations of peasants were annihilated in his merciless crusade. The other emperors would threaten the peasants to relinquish their leaders and return home, or else they would bring Chrodegang to deal with them instead, whereas they were willing to talk, they all knew what horrors Chrodegang would do to them. Peasants terrified gave up their leaders and returned home in fear of total annihilation.

Under Chrodegang's merciless reign, the Great Peasant Rebellion was brought to a violent end, its leaders executed and its followers crushed beneath the iron heel of imperial tyranny. The peasants, cowed into submission by the specter of Chrodegang's wrath, retreated into the shadows, their dreams of liberation extinguished in a sea of blood and fire.

Avalonian War(4266-4283AC)

The Parsian Empire was vast and it made up the imperial provinces of Pars, Sigenstein and Mordheim. But the Mord people grew resentful, as for centuries they had been treated as second class citizens by the Parsians, often forgotten when important decisions were made. The other non-imperial province territories that the Parsians held in the west were of the same mind.

Starting in Avalon, the west rebelled against the Parsian Empire, a brutal war that lasted seventeen years followed. The Parsians, the greatest fighters of the empire, would not allow the rebellion to win, for it would be a grave stain on their honor. However after long years of war, the not so warlike Sigenstein looked as if they would too join the rebellion, with their hands forced emperor Tenes had to forfeit the war, allowing Avalon to be free with Mordheim in the fold, this would cause the imperial province of Mordheim to never return into the empire.

Zina's Conquest(ca. 4700AC)

100 years before the reunification of the empire, another individual would try to reunite the empire. Empress Zina of the Bauin Empire emerged as a figure of intrigue and ambition, seeking to reunite the fractured Empire of Man under her rule. Zina possessed a rare combination of beauty, charm, and cunning, which she leveraged to forge powerful alliances and manipulate those around her. Using her captivating allure, Zina seduced numerous kings and rulers across the realms of Vlunia, Rodinia, Aedorica, and even the Emperor of the Zixing Empire. These relationships were not merely superficial dalliances but strategic maneuvers to secure loyalty and support for her grand ambition of Imperial reunification.

Empress Zina's quest began with the subjugation of the Wolf Empire, where she used her wiles to entice the emperor and eventually coerce him into relinquishing the throne to her. With the Wolf Empire under her control, Zina turned her attention to her neighboring rivals, launching a series of military campaigns to expand her influence and power. The Parsian Empire was the first to feel the weight of Zina's ambitions, as her forces clashed with theirs in bloody conflict. Despite being outmatched and outskilled, Zina's foreign allies sent tens of thousands of men to fight her wars. Zina's cunning tactics and diplomatic prowess secured her victory, marking the first step towards her goal of reunification. Next in Zina's sights was the Bert Empire, where she employed a combination of seduction and military might to weaken her adversaries. With the aid of her enthralled allies, she waged war upon the Bert Empire, employing both brute force and political manipulation to secure her conquest. Finally, Zina set her sights on the Deion Empire, the largest and most formidable of her rivals. Bolstered by her previous successes and the support of her foreign allies, she launched a relentless campaign against the Deion Empire, aiming to bring it to its knees and claim ultimate victory.

However, Zina's ambitious plans came crashing down. One of her many lovers, driven by jealousy and resentment over her perceived neglect, plotted her demise. At a banquet celebrating a recent victory, the lover begged for an audience alone with Zina, in her private quarters, the lover assassin stabbed the empress 61 times to death. He then tried to flee the scene, but was found and executed immediately. With Zina dead, the foreign nations withdrew their support, the other empires rebelled against her successor's rule, and the dream of unity was shattered once again. A return to the long Age of Five Emperors followed.

The Sieghardt War and Reunification

Lost? Are you Mad? Look before you!, the god hammer is right before us and our brothers fight to their last while you say we have lost, Ghal Maraz is before us in the hands of mere goblins while we sit atop this hill dreading the future. Don't Retreat! Don't Falter! All you must do is look forward! For the fate of all Imperials and the great god king's empire rests on our shoulders! And our shoulders alone! You are not allowed to die! Your only option to charge forward and Fight in the Service of Sieghardt and under the gaze of the gods! FOR THE EMPIRE! FOR SIEGHARDT! CHAAAAAARGE! -General Merovich von Bludven, upon arriving at the siege of Arnheim
Since the time of Emperor Wido, the empire had been in a constant state of disarray and civil war under five emperors. Foreign powers often eyed this broken empire and sought to exploit it for their own gain, although some saw temporary success, nothing concrete ever happened until the coming of the most terrible one. Prince Sieghardt, the second emperor of the empire, the most terrible tyrant of all time, had returned to reclaim his birthright. And with the empire broken, there was no better time to become emperor once more. Prince Sieghardt had been absent from all eyes for over 2500 years, and in that time he had been honing his skills and gaining experience. He now hosted a chaotic horde with a variety of soldiers from all across the world, that all wished to bring about destruction. Prince Sieghardt first landed in the Bauin Empire and they were no match for the overwhelming chaotic force, Prince Sieghardt then turned his sights on the other empires. A brutal war ensued. As each empire took to the solidarity defense of their empires, Prince Sieghardt crushed the weak mortal armies of the empires with ease.

Emperor Robert of the Bert Empire was the only emperor calling for an alliance between the empires; they disregarded him, but Robert would not falter. Among the other emperors, Robert was the sole emperor that wielded the god hammer Ghal Maraz, the mortal weapon of Prince Sieghardt that had defeated him all those years ago. Prince Sieghardt focused on the wolf empire while he sent his strongest hordes to kill the wielder of Ghal Maraz, fearful of the weapon still. The largest chaotic force marched and pillaged the Bert Empire, with battle after battle lost, the only victories being where the emperor himself was present. Robert was an unwavering spirit in troubling times, but an unbreakable spirit was not enough to defeat the hordes.

During the siege of the City of Arnheim, the chaotic horde stormed the streets and the imperials fought fiercely to preserve their empire, Robert who fought side by side with his men was slain in battle, the warlord that killed him seized the god hammer from his corpse, granting it to a group of Goblins to return to the army's commander. The mission of obtaining Ghal Maraz for Prince Sieghardt was complete.

But just over the horizon, on the hill overlooking the city. A general, named Merovich von Bludven, overlooked the besieged city. His small cavalry unit saw in horror as the capital of the empire was near taken by the chaotic hordes. Then a scout with his spyglass gasped in horror at what he saw, he handed the spyglass to Merovich and pointed at what he saw. The mighty God Hammer Ghal Maraz in the hands of goblins outside the city. This meant only thing, that emperor Robert was dead, the men despaired at the lost of the hammer and the city, but Merovich told them that neither were lost yet, for they were right before them, it was up to them to save the empire, the fate of Sieghardt's empire rested on their shoulders, with a resounding speech Merovich and his men charged down the hill, pushing past all of the hordes and reaching the goblins, Merovich charged at the goblins and teared through them, Ghal Maraz flew into the air and Merovich grabbed it. With a single strike, the hammer teared through the earth, Lighting cracked in the sky and a divine light heralded down upon Merovich. The Gods were on his side.

With Ghal Maraz in hand, Merovich flanked the chaotic horde in the city smashing through them, the nearly shattered imperials witnessed the godlike powers of Merovich as he swept through the Chaotic horde. After what seemed like certain defeat, the chaotic horde had been beaten and sent on the run. Merovich had saved the Bert Empire, and stopped Ghal Maraz from reaching the hands of Prince Sieghardt. With the Robert dead, Merovich lead the peoples in the war against Prince Sieghardt, He won battle after battle, then he saved the Parsian Empire from the brink of destruction, then he saved the other empires, which all pledged to join him when he came to save them.

At the battle of Baal's Rock, Merovich along with the combined imperial forces of all empires defeated Prince Sieghardt and sent him back into the eastern sea. Merovich the general had saved the Imperial people from succumbing under the rule of Prince Sieghardt once more. The other remaining emperors dissolved their empires and joined Merovich, they hailed him as Emperor of Man Merovich the Great of the reunited empire of man. Any that disliked him would have been lynched for he was beloved by all.

He reconstructed the empire and established several important decrees. The first of which granting the Cult of Sieghardt three votes when selecting the emperor for their support of the elected emperors, then he granted the Cult of Dyre, an important faction a single vote. Knowing the reason of why the empire had broken apart. His second decree was forming a council of the important cults in his empire, they had to attend by imperial decree, the Grand Diet would take place every five years where the emperor himself would be chaired to hear any problems the cults had himself. Those that were included were the Cult of Sieghardt, Dyre, Morr- God of Blood, Freya, Baalzaac, Narvola, Uva, Reseyr, Sööl and Dobrava. Merovich would also establish the imperial engineers school, for he used the engineers greatly during his war with Prince Sieghardt.

The Cultists Scheme(5267-5297AC)

The First Incursion(5267-5276AC)

In the year 5267 AC, a shadow fell over the Empire of Man as the influence of evil cultists of the dark gods spread like a malignant plague. Their nefarious rituals culminated in the summoning of Demons from the depths of hell and other realms beyond mortal comprehension. With infernal forces unleashed upon the world, the empire found itself besieged by demonic hordes, their insatiable hunger for destruction consuming all in their path. The mortal armies of the empire, ill-prepared and unaware of the true extent of the threat, faltered in the face of the demonic onslaught. Amidst the chaos, the cultists worked from within, sowing seeds of discord and betrayal among the ranks, further weakening the empire's defenses.

The Cult's had gained great power and influence under the lax Emperor, with this demonic threat far beyond the emperor's capabilities, the Imperial Princes elected the imperial prince of Mindenland as emperor. Werner von Häussler, a strong steadfast military with a strong determination to protect his people and an unwavering faith and indomitable will, the perfect man for such a crisis. Emperor Werner rallied the empire's forces, inspiring them to stand firm against the encroaching darkness. With emperor Werner at the helm, the empire was able to launch daring counterattacks against the demons, dealing crushing blows against the hellspawns. However the demons weren't the only threat to Imperials. The evil Cultists had seeped into every crevice of soceity, many fearful that their neighbor or fellow soldier was a cultist in disguise. None could know for sure. In order to find the evil cultists, emperor Werner expanded the power and influence of the Cult of Sieghardt and the other cults, bolstering his forces with thousands of devout followers of their faith. These warrior-priests of the cults were capable of seeing darkness within the ranks of the army that were even slightly tainting towards the darkness. For nine years the period know as the first incursion occured, a time of a great war between mortals and demons, fanatics of faiths on both sides, and time of suffering for all peoples of the empire.

The Second Incursion(5278-5293AC)

Whereas the first incursion of the Infernal Incursion saw the evil cults launch a demonic attack on the empire, with the demons defeated, emperor Werner now had to rid the empire of the lurking cults, this would prove to be the greatest task, as this would take seventeen long years to snuff out the cults, as the empire directed it's focus towards ways to locate evil cults, the good cults of the empire expanded their influence at the decree of the emperor. For these many years, many raids on the strongholds of the evil cultist were happened, but each time they would escape like roaches. Finally in the latter years of the second incursion, emperor Werner would decree the founding of the witch-hunters. These witch-hunters served as inquistors, and trained men of the good cults with their sole purpose being to eradicate all evil of the empire. These witch-hunters began rising in large numbers, as the people flocked to become one. In the 6 months since their founding, the witch-hunters had found more evil cultists then all others had the past several years. Soon the tide had shifted in the favor of the empire as the evil cults were destroyed one by one.

The Third Incursion(5293-5297AC)

As the evil cults were on the brink of destruction, they made a last ditch effort and united to summon a great demon. Using the entire city of Bradendorf sacrifice, the evil cultist summoned extremely powerful demons and with it they launched their own counterattack. However even with this powerful demon, their numbers were a mere fraction of what it was in the first incursion, as daily more and more evil cultists were found and executed, the empire had long fought demons and under emperor Werner, none feared this feeble attempt by the evil cults. After four years of war, at the battle of Bradendorf, the last of the demons and evil cults were destroyed. Emperor Werner was hailed as Werner Demonslayer for his valiant defense of the empire.

The witch-hunters continued their hunts for any remnants of the evil cults, with their numbers shrinking, the witch-hunters seemed to be something that was only for a crisis. But the Cult of Sieghardt and the other cults convinced emperor Werner to establish a new imperial decree. Information gained from the witch-hunters found that the evil cultists had gained significant foreign support as well as support from non Humans in the empire, whether this was true or not in unknown, but Werner would make the imperial decree, that no races other than human, Dwarf and Halfling could be in the empire, and any and all forms of magic was a crime punishable by death. The races of the empire such as the few High Elf that had lived in the empire for centuries, soon found themselves being hunted down and hung. Thousands across the empire fled from this new decree that wouldn't be abolished until the reign of emperor Hogan the Wise.

The GREAT WAAAGH!(5433-5437AC)

In the year 5407 AC somewhere in Vlunia, the fifth Orc Overlord Waaagh! would rise to power. He was an orc with only desire, the destruction of civilization. WAAAGH! was like no other overlord before him, he rekindled a fury within the orcs that had never been seen before. He became an icon equal to or greater than that of Uruk the Great. He redefined the orc war machine as a manifestation of total destruction. WAAAGH! marched his armies across Vlunia, wiping entire civilizations into ruin. But the great overlord would set his sights on what he deemed his greatest "destroy". The mighty Kril Kor nation. The Dwarf nation was vast, as it stretched from the Dunbad to the Dann and as far north as the mountains of Nakhan. An empire so great and large that it was deemed unbreakable, WAAAGH! was about to break this empire. With millions of orcs he marched south as he fought dwarven armies of only slightly less size.

The dwarves and orcs clashed in large battles with deaths in the millions, but the fanatical orcs of mortal destruction proved to be far superior than the dwarves, on top of that, the orcs adapted quickly to any environment and fighting in the open plains of the Great Narnen Plains was second nature to them, the mountain accustomed dwarves were outmatched in this environment and were slaughtered. It soon became clear that the vast dwarven empire was incapable of defending its lands. Any battle between the dwarves and orcs that wasn't in the mountains was always met with a dwarf defeat. The mountains however were a true challenge for the orcs as this was the true homelands of the dwarves. The orcs struggled to claim victory and after years of bloody sieges, the orcs too adapted to the mountains, claimed total victory over all areas the dwarves fought. The next few years saw the fall of all but some of the dwarven mountain strongholds, but the Kril Kor was no more, destroyed by the orcs, then all the other nations like the Kingdom of Avalon and Mordhau Confederation fell to total ruin by The Destroyerz.

As WAAAGH! gained near total control of the continent, he led his armies through the Myst Forest burning it down, then he went to the Dunbad to bend the orc and Beastfolk tribes to his will. As his Orc Warchiefs invaded the empire from the north and west. He went on a campaign in the south known as the great desolation. None know how he did it, but WAAAGH! was a true destruction incarnate. All of the lands south of The Acades was terraformed from lush grasslands into a total wasteland, all buildings teared down, all lives destroyed by this grand destruction. These lands would be forever changed by the ramage of WAAAGH!. As each imperial province fell one after another, Emperor Ragenardus III marched his armies to defend the empire.

WAAAGH! controlled the whole of the most of the continent, with his only major threat being the empire, the last that remained and it's end was in sight. The northlands of the imperial province of Raaroland and Morigana hand already been lost to the Orc Warchiefs that invaded through the Gobi Rainforest and from the west. The midlands were being invaded from the west, with the orcs winning several victories against Pars and Sigenstein. But the worst of them all was the fate of the southlands. WAAAGH! himself decimated the earth itself, turning the once powerful imperial provinces of Hessmark, Hochland and Triaus into uninhabitable wastelands. They had been completed destroyed with no hope or way of restoring them.

The empire desperately held on to what key defensive positions it had. Whereas the rest of the imperial provinces took to the defense of their own provinces. Emperor Ragenardus III marched his armies south. Knowing of how how Sieghardt- God Emperor had defeated Gluk Blood-Axe, sending the hordes fleeing and breaking apart. Ragernardus III knew that he had to end this war in one quick swoop, for the orcs would always win a war of attrition. If he defeated WAAAGH! then all of the orc hordes would flee. He prepared his armies and met the WAAAGH! at the city of Holstein. The orcs besieged the city with the best of their siege equipment. Days, and months pasted as the siege lasted longer and longer. Finally the orcs dug a hole under the city and poured out from it, however the orcs didn't know that Ragernardus III knew that they were digging a hole underneath. And so Ragernardus III with a swift strike from Ghal Maraz crushed the head of the first orc that emerged from the hole, and to the surprise of all, the first orc to jump out was WAAAGH! himself. Suddenly Ragernardus III had defeated WAAAGH! and all of the orcs began to flee. WAAAGH!'s empire came to end, but his impact forever felt. The few nations that remained found the lands WAAAGH! had conquered reduced to rubble and sent back to an age of stone. It would take several centuries for the continent to rebuild, from this brutal warlord.

The Second Return of the Prince(6301AC)

The empire expanded greatly and prospered since its reunification by Merovich the Great, and the one that wished to share in that glory was Prince Sieghardt. It had been over 1400 years since Sieghardt was defeated by Merovich in the First Sieghardt War, and now he had returned. However this would be known as the "Prince's Folly War" as he would be defeated in less than a year. Last time he invaded, the empire was still broken from the Era of Turmoil. However this time the empire was united in all things. This was a time the empire was at one of its strongest, on top of that all, the Emperor, Ulric the Pious earning the title from enduring a brutal siege under the Beastmen horde under Ghorok World-Eater. He was hailed as a hero and beloved by the empire. This was the worst time to attack the empire, but the prince did anyway. After some success with his surprise invasion, the Imperials were quickly able to adapt to Prince Sieghart's tactics and armies. The imperials using their superior tech and tactics made the Prince's army seem like a group of peasants. As the guns tore through the heavily armored foes, the artillery annihilated what infantry was left, and the Sieghardt himself was bested by Ulric with Ghal Maraz in hand. They were sent back to the sea, many generals called the entire war a "training exercise". To this day Prince Sieghardt has not attempted to invade the empire ever since.

The Fol Peace(6400AC-?)

Beginning with Emperor Folkmar IV, the empire underwent a period known as the Fol Peace. For the first time since its founding, the empire was at peace. Very few other nations in history can claim to have a peace such as this. The peace lasted several centuries. During this remarkable era, the empire thrived in ways that transcended mere military conquests. Instead, it was a time marked by profound progress and innovation across various fields of endeavor. The arts flourished, with poets, painters, and musicians capturing the essence of the empire's newfound harmony in their works. Architecture soared to new heights, as grand structures and monuments graced the imperial cities, showcasing the empire's cultural richness and ingenuity.

In addition to artistic endeavors, the Fol Peace saw remarkable advancements in science, technology, and philosophy. Scholars and thinkers delved into the mysteries of the natural world, making groundbreaking discoveries in fields such as astronomy, mathematics, and medicine. Philosophers pondered the nature of existence and the meaning of life, engaging in spirited debates that enriched the intellectual landscape of the empire. Trade and commerce flourished as well, facilitated by the stability and security that the Fol Peace provided. The empire's merchants traversed vast distances, establishing trade networks that spanned continents and brought prosperity to distant lands. Economic growth soared as industries expanded and markets thrived, fueling the empire's wealth and influence on the world stage.

The Great Imperial Blunder(7999AC)

The infamous Great Imperial Blunder, also known as the Battle of Ranse, remains as the greatest military failure in history. It was during the murder campaign of Khaine- God of Murder, a Dark Elf warhost that had ventured from the main warhost of Khaine, they landed on the east coast of the empire. They sought to sow terror and destruction upon the lands of the empire. Emperor Otto, valiant but perhaps overzealous in his pursuit of victory, marshaled a mighty force of 100,000 Imperials to confront this dark menace. With hearts aflame with righteous fury, they marched forth to meet the enemy on the east coast of the empire. As the army set up camp knowing they outnumbered the enemy, the night descended not with the promised triumph, but with confusion and calamity. In the darkness of the night, fear and uncertainty gripped the hearts of the imperial soldiers. Whispers of unseen foes and imminent danger spread through the ranks, casting a shadow of doubt over their resolve. Amidst this chaos, tragedy struck as mistaken identities led to a catastrophic series of events. The imperials, blinded by fear and confusion, turned their weapons upon one another, believing their comrades to be disguised agents of the dark forces. Friend became foe in the blink of an eye, and the battlefield was transformed into a scene of fratricidal strife. Emperor Otto, valiant though he was, found himself powerless to halt the descent into madness that had gripped his own forces. Amidst the chaos, he struggled to maintain order, but his efforts proved futile in the face of such overwhelming confusion. As the first light of dawn broke upon the horizon, the true extent of the tragedy became painfully clear. The once-mighty imperial army lay decimated, with nearly seventy percent of its forces lost to the self-inflicted carnage of that fateful night. Emperor Otto was forced to retreat and allow the dark elven host free reign in the lands. The imperial historians have attempted to retell the events as dark elven illusions as the cause of this, but it is only a hopeful lie to mitigate the failure of this day.

The Accursed Sell and The Era of Slavery(8071-8286AC)

"Asking an Imperial whether the Tyrannical Era or the Era of Slavery was worse is like asking a dwarf whether he should shave his beard or curse his ancestors" -Drakwald Ironfist, dwarven warrior
Beginning around the year 8000 AC, the Empire found itself embroiled in a multitude of wars both internally and externally, spanning decades without respite. Each conflict seemed to seamlessly transition into the next, leaving the Imperial people weary and drained, both in spirit and resources. However, it was not just the toll of bloodshed that afflicted the Empire; the relentless warfare also took a heavy toll on its treasury. Years of military expenditure and economic strain left the imperial coffers in a state of ruin, a dire predicament that demanded urgent attention. Emperor Vilhelm, who ascended to the throne in 8047 AC, faced the monumental task of replenishing the imperial coffers and restoring financial stability to the Empire. Yet, his rule proved disastrous, marked by incompetence and reckless decision-making. Instead of implementing prudent economic policies, Vilhelm's ventures were fueled by gambling and ill-conceived attempts to amass wealth quickly.

As the years passed, Vilhelm's actions only served to exacerbate the Empire's financial woes, driving it deeper into debt with each ill-fated venture. By the year 8071 AC, the imperial treasury lay in complete and utter disarray, burdened by a debt of unprecedented magnitude. It was calculated by the mathematicians of the time that it would take over 200 years to get the imperial coffers back into the positives. Confronted with the grim reality of the Empire's dire financial situation, Vilhelm made a fateful decision that would reverberate throughout history. In a desperate bid to alleviate the debt, he made the unthinkable choice to sell the entirety of the Empire to the foreign Yang Empire. This treacherous act, though swiftly met with his deposition, had far-reaching consequences. The Empire, once a beacon of sovereignty and independence, now languished as a vassal state under the rule of the Yang, subject to their whims and dictates.

The Yang Empire's acquisition of the entirety of the Empire marked the onset of an era known by the Imperials as the Era of Slavery that lasted for over two centuries. Unlike the Imperial tradition, the Yang were known for their principles of total equality, cosmopolitanism, and a rich tapestry of traditions vastly different from those of the Empire. Despite not being a brutal dictatorship, the Yang were resolute in recouping the substantial investment they had made in acquiring the Empire, and then some. Their strategy was one of gradual assimilation, aiming to transform the Imperial culture into one more aligned with their own. However, the Imperial populace harbored deep-seated resentment towards their new masters, regardless of the Yang's intentions. To them, the notion of being subservient to the Yang, no matter how benevolent, was anathema. For over two centuries, the Empire seethed with rebellion and resistance against the Yang overlords. Daily acts of defiance and open rebellion became the norm, as the Imperial people fought tooth and nail to preserve their identity and autonomy. Every opportunity, no matter how small, was seized upon as a chance to resist the encroaching influence of the Yang. Despite the Empire's fervent resistance, the Yang possessed the patience of longevity. Two hundred years was but a blink of an eye to them, especially considering the resources and wealth they had invested in the Empire. Their determination to shape the Empire into a compliant vassal state remained unwavering, even in the face of relentless opposition.

However, in the year 8286 AC, a remarkably wealthy merchant named Luchetto approached the Yang with a proposition that would change everything. He offered to purchase back the Empire for the same price they had paid and all they had lost since, compensating them for all the losses they had incurred in the interim. Seeing this as an opportunity to extricate themselves from the costly quagmire of Imperial resistance, the Yang accepted Luchetto's offer. With the transaction complete, Luchetto entered the Empire and announced to its people that their freedom had been restored. His act of redemption elevated him to the status of a hero, comparable to the legendary figures of Imperial lore. In buying back the empire's independence, he had also purchased the position of Emperor of Man and would be known as emperor Luchetto "Moneybags". This would end the era of slavery and begin the Luchetto Period.

Luchetto Period(8286-9115AC)

The Luchetto Period, spanning from Emperor Luchetto's ascension in 8286 AC to the reign of the last Luchetto emperor, Karsten II, in 9115 AC, was a remarkable era characterized by the dominance of the Luchetto family as the wealthiest rulers in the Empire's history. However, their reign was marked by rampant corruption and a flourishing of the arts. Emperors from the Luchetto lineage wielded immense wealth and power, allowing them to rule with near-absolute authority. Externally, the Empire faced relatively few major conflicts during this period, granting the Luchetto emperors the luxury of indulging in their opulent lifestyles and ruling as they saw fit. With minimal external threats, their grip on power within the Empire remained unchallenged. The Luchetto emperors were notorious for their penchant for bribery and manipulation. With their coffers overflowing with gold, they could easily buy the loyalty of others and silence dissenting voices. Any who dared to oppose or criticize the emperor could be swiftly dealt with through bribery or coercion, ensuring a facade of unity and obedience throughout the Empire.

For nearly a millennium, the Luchetto emperors reigned supreme, surrounded by a cadre of sycophants and yes-men who eagerly catered to their every whim. With no checks on their authority, they enjoyed unprecedented freedom to govern as they pleased, unchecked by external constraints or opposition. Despite the pervasive corruption that plagued their rule, the Luchetto Period also witnessed a renaissance of the arts. Emperors of the Luchetto lineage were patrons of the arts, fostering a cultural environment where creativity and expression flourished. However, this patronage came with a caveat—any artist or noble who failed to align with the emperor's tastes risked being ostracized or labeled as an enemy of the state. Throughout the Empire, nobles vied for favor with the emperor by demonstrating their appreciation for the arts and aligning themselves with the cultural preferences of the ruling elite. The flourishing artistic scene served as both a source of prestige for the Empire and a means for the Luchetto emperors to solidify their power and influence.

Great War of Undeath(9112-9192AC)

Beginning in the 8380AC the Lord of undeath, the liche lord, great necromancer of the Great God War Nebuchadnezzar- Vampire God had resurrected. A mortal enemy of all beings of the world, his return would spark chaos. However Nebuchadnezzar instead of taking his warring approach he had last time. This time he decided to take a different approach. He would conduct a grand ritual to resurrect all that have ever perished in the world all at once, even ancient beings and gods such as Celestial Dragons and Solomon - God of Life would become his undead servants. This ritual however took 1000 years of nonstop chant. And so for 800 years he remained in his dark citadel of Nakhan uttering the ritual. At this point the ritual had reached the stage where it made all of the world take notice. As in its near completion, it resurrected the undead all across the world, although not the gods and powerful beings he wanted yet, it was still an army of billions. As nations all around the world were engulfed by undead hordes from all corners, Nebuchadnezzar knew that it was now time for war. He had created the new race of the Vampires to serve as his commanders of his undead legions. They marched and took all of Vlunia, with it serving as his undead bastion once more.

The undead legions then invaded the continent of Rodinia. The emperor at the time was Luchetto Emperor Karsten II, and for the first time in a Luchetto emperor's rule, a major threat had come. Karsten II was completely unprepared for the undead hordes. Soon the empire and the rest of the continent found itself completely overwhelmed by the undead legions. The hordes were endless, the empire had lost every city, every town, every imperial province, Soon all that remained of the empire was the City of Marienburg it's capital, the empire's end was mere months, weeks or even days away as the undead hordes besieged.

But why was the empire soo badly beaten? Karsten II and the rest of the imperial provinces were unprepared for a major conflict, but most importantly, the god hammer Ghal Maraz that had saved the empire time and time again was gone. The Luchetto Emperors weren't fighters and fought no major wars, and so a god hammer was of no need for them, other then to use for money, and so the Luchetto emperors starting with Luchetto "Moneybags", would lease the ownership of the hammer to the highest bidder. Often switching hands hundreds of times in a year. But even before Karsten II's reign, about 80 years prior, the location of the god hammer was lost and none knew where it was. And so when the empire needed the god hammer most, it had not been seen for over 80 years.

A rarity amongst the Luchetto Emperors was an enemy, but for Karsten II he had an enemy that no bribe, no matter how large or small would quell. That being Imperial Prince Hogan of Sigenstein. Where the emperor would always have a yes man, Hogan always stood against the emperor. Even trying to assassinate Hogan several times failed. They were rivals and Karsten II despised him as much as he liked money. During the Undead invasion, Karsten II in a way to make Hogan lose standing amongst the empire, sent Hogan to find the god hammer to save the empire. A noble cause on the face, but in truth it was a dirty scheme. All knew that Ghal Maraz was lost and looking for it was a wild goose chase. So they instead saw Hogan as abandoning the empire in its greatest time of need, they branded him Hogan "the Traitor". But Hogan by imperial decree set out abroad in search of the god hammer.

The city of Marienburg would surely fall, the empire was certain to meet its end. Karsten II, seeing no hope, took all of the imperial treasury and his wealth onto a ship and sailed away into the ocean never to be seen again. What remained of the army, saw that their emperor had abandoned them and with morale lost and the future bleak. The walls were overrun. The undead hordes stormed into the city as the last of the empire's peoples held. But a single boat sailed into the port of the city, and it bore the flag of the imperial prince of Sigenstein, Hogan had returned in the final moments of the empire and in his hand was Ghal Maraz, as Hogan charged into the undead hordes with the god hammer, lightning struck down, the very air lifted the undead away, the land crackled with fire with each strike from Hogan. Divine light illuminated from the hammer as it smited any and all foes it touched. After a grand rally, the undead forces had been slain and the Final Siege of Marienburg was a victory for the empire. The last of the Imperial Princes proclaimed Hogan Emperor of Man and hailed him as a hero. But Hogan told them that this was only the beginning, and what followed was a campaign known as the Glorious Liberation, in which Hogan led the armies to reconquer all lost lands of the empire. But as Hogan made his way to the northlands, the undead hordes transformed the lands into a desert, the imperial province of Raaroland and Morigana would be lost. The Great War of Undead after several decades would end in the year 9192 when foreign nations would defeat Nebuchadnezzar. After the war Hogan would be hailed as Hogan the Wise and is remembered as the greatest emperor of the empire, second only to Sieghardt- God Emperor himself. Hogan implemented far-reaching reforms, including the creation of Hoganhauffen to safeguard Ghal Maraz and the establishment of the Conclaves of Magic to harness the power of magic for the Empire's benefit and allowing magic to no longer be outlawed as it was one of the main factors that lead to victory against Nebuchadnezzar. An era of prosperity followed and his legacy endures as a testament to his wisdom, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Empire's prosperity and well-being.

Vampire Wars(9192-9327AC)

The Vampire Wars a dark and bloody chapter unfolded in the wake of Nebuchadnezzar's defeat, as his vampire lords scattered across the world, seeking to establish their dominion in the absence of their master. With the emergence of vampire kingdoms, the Empire of Man, led by Emperor Adalgod III, and several other nations embarked on a relentless campaign to purge the land of these undead abominations.

For over a century, the living waged brutal warfare against the undead, with countless lives lost on both sides in the relentless struggle for supremacy. However, the tide of war would shift dramatically with the ascension of Empress Eufemia to the imperial throne. A formidable and ruthless leader, Eufemia launched a relentless campaign against the vampire scourge, earning herself a fearsome reputation as the "undead butcher," the "Cruel-Born," and most famously, Eufemia Vampire Slayer. Empress Eufemia's methods were as brutal as they were effective. With unmatched skill and ferocity, she hunted down and slew scores of powerful vampires, striking fear into the hearts of both Mortals and Immortals alike. Her solitary crusade against the undead would become the stuff of legend, as she single-handedly decimated the vampire population, reducing it by a staggering 80% and eradicating their presence on the continent for thousands of years to come. Her reign marked the end of the Vampire Wars, immortalizing her as one of the greatest fears of the vampires.

Aasimar Conquest(9666AC)

In the ominous year of 9666, the Empire faced an unprecedented threat from the east: a vast warhost of Aasimar, descending upon the fertile lands of Mindenland with the intent to carve out a new territory for themselves. Led by their resolute leaders, these celestial beings waged war against the empire, their arrival heralding a tumultuous era of conflict and upheaval.   Emperor Leopold IX the Imperial Prince of Mindenland, newly elected and untested in the crucible of war, hastily marshaled his forces to confront the encroaching Aasimar threat. However, in his eagerness to defend his homeland, Leopold rushed headlong into battle, unaware of the cunning and might of his celestial adversaries. The clash between the imperial forces and the Aasimar warhost proved to be a fateful one, culminating in a decisive battle. Despite the valiant efforts of the Imperial army, the Aasimar emerged victorious, their celestial prowess and divine blessings overwhelming the defenders and claiming the life of Emperor Leopold IX in the heat of the conflict.

With the fall of the imperial leader, the Aasimar seized control of Mindenland, swiftly establishing their dominion over the conquered territory. In a bold and audacious move, they proclaimed the birth of a new nation known as the Vale, a sanctuary where Aasimar could thrive free from the constraints of mortal rule. To fortify their newfound realm, the Aasimar erected a towering magical dome that enveloped the entire land, sealing it off from the outside world and warding against any attempts at intrusion or escape. Within the span of a mere year, the once-proud province of Mindenland had fallen to the Aasimar onslaught, its lands now transformed into the heartland of the burgeoning Vale.

The Bloody War(14967-14989AC)

The Bloody War, a conflict that would test the very foundations of imperial unity and plunge the realm into chaos and turmoil. It all began with a seemingly innocuous incident within the empire's borders: a hidden goblin settlement, nestled between the lands of the imperial province of Sigenstein and Pars, began unleashing marauding bands of goblins, wreaking havoc upon nearby towns and settlements. In response to this escalating threat, Sigenstein and Pars agreed to launch a joint military operation to quell the goblin menace once and for all. However, when the appointed time arrived, only the Sigenstein army mustered for battle, naively assuming that their Parsian allies would join them in the campaign against the goblins. This miscalculation would prove costly, as the Sigenstein forces found themselves ambushed by the goblin horde under the cover of night, suffering heavy casualties and igniting a firestorm of anger and resentment within the ranks of the imperial province. None know why Pars didn't send their troops, some believe they felt like they didn't need the help of Sigenstein, or perhaps a miscommunication on when the operation was to happen. Nevertheless, furious at what they perceived as Parsian betrayal, some of the Sigenstein nobles took matters into their own hands, venting their rage by launching retaliatory raids and pillaging Parsian lands. In response, the Parsians, stung by the brazen aggression of their erstwhile allies, threatened to march on Holstein.

Emperor Theodbert VI, alarmed by the escalating tensions and the specter of civil war looming on the horizon, intervened to prevent a war between the two provinces. Dispatching missives to both Sigenstein and Pars, he urged restraint and offered to mediate a peaceful resolution to the crisis, even proposing to dispatch imperial troops to deal with the goblin threat and compensate for any losses incurred by the nobles. However the message did not reach Pars, and Sigenstein retreated their troops at the behest of the emperor, Pars saw the troops of Sigenstein retreat from the border and besieged Holstein. War between the two sides had begun. Theodbert would go to take action from this turn of events, but before he could, he would abruptly die of natural causes early into the year of 14968AC. Emperor Theodbert VI died, leaving the empire leaderless and vulnerable in the midst of the storm.

With the title of emperor absent in this troubling time, the Imperial Princes and other electors voted on the next emperor. Many desired to vote for Theodbert's eldest son Theodoric, a competent diplomat well liked by many, he would be able to find a solution to end this provinces war, however Theodoric shortly prior to the emperor's death had left the empire and had gone abroad for his studies, and so many of his strong supporters instead voted for his younger brother Abram. Abram was not as capable as Theodoric but he was chosen in Theodoric's place. However he was deeply unpopular compared to his older brother, and with two imperial princes engaged in war unable to vote, Abram barely was elected emperor by a single vote. Those most outraged with this outcome were the imperial princes of Hochland and Arnheim, which both denounced his election and waged war upon emperor Abram I to depose him.

As the bloody conflict between the emperor and his rebellious provinces raged on, external threats began to converge upon the weakened empire. The Kingdom of Astaroth seized the opportunity to launch an invasion, seeking to capitalize on the empire's vulnerability and expand its own territories. Later that year, the Yang Empire, long harboring ambitions of colonial expansion, also entered the fray, aiming to carve out a foothold within imperial lands. In 14969 AC, emperor Abram focused on the Astaroth threat, was forced to sign peace with the Yang which had taken some of Marienburg and conquered all of Eisengard. In the year 14985 in the midst of the bloody war, the Queendom of Gardania from the east would also invade the weakened empire and seized Söölland later that year. Abram once again was forced to sign peace and give up the imperial province to the invaders, As the Astaroth kingdom was a far greater threat. In the year of 14988, Astaroth generals disgruntled with the Astaroth king, rebelled against the king. In the following year, the empire too weak to continue signed peace ending the war. In his short reign, Abram had lost Söölland to the Order of the Sun, Eisengard to The Yang Enclave and vast lands in the west to the kingdom of Astaroth.

Despoilers Come(15001AC-Present)

In the heart of the imperial province of Pars, a formidable orc horde rose from the shadows, seizing control of vast swaths of territory and establishing the rogue nation of the Despoilers. Since their audacious proclamation, the Parsians have waged a relentless war against these invaders, determined to reclaim their lands and rid their homeland of the orcish scourge once and for all.

German Rebellion(15002AC-Present)

In the Imperial Province of Arnheim, simmering internal tensions finally erupted into open rebellion. For years, discontent had been brewing among the populace, fueled by perceived injustices and grievances against the ruling house. Led by the powerful Count German, the disgruntled nobles and people united in a bold bid for independence from Imperial authority. In a swift and decisive move, Count German declared secession from the empire, proclaiming the birth of the Grand County of Germany. With banners raised high and fervent determination in their hearts, the rebels embarked on a campaign to assert their sovereignty and forge a new destiny for themselves.

Emboldened by their newfound independence, Count German wasted no time in challenging the authority of the imperial seat in Hansa. He mobilized his forces and launched a daring assault on the heart of imperial power, sparking a conflict that would come to be known as the German Rebellion. Emperor Theodoric the Old, faced with this brazen challenge to his rule, could ill afford to ignore the threat posed by the rebellious nation. Swiftly mustering the imperial armies, he marched to confront the insurgents and quell the uprising before it could spiral out of control. The loyalists and rebels alike prepared to shed blood in defense of their respective causes. The fate of the empire hung in the balance as the forces of Arnheim and the imperial legions prepared to meet on the battlefield, with the outcome of their confrontation poised to shape the course of the future.

Demography and Population

The exact populations of the whole empire are difficult to assess due to the rapid change of the territory it holds but most imperial records believe that there are some millions of people in their total population.

Territories

The empire has full control of only the imperial province of Hansa which has its borders unchanged. The imperial provinces of Eisengard and Söölland have been lost to foreign powers, Arnheim has been taken by rebels, Pars has lost lands to the Despoilers and the Kingdom of Mordred. Sigenstein has lost lands to the Mordred Kingdom as well. Mindenland has been lost for thousands of years. The empire once held all its ancestral lands, but over its long history, many have been lost.

Military

Under the decree of Emperor Hogan the Wise, every province and city-state within the Empire is mandated to maintain a State or Provincial Army at its own expense. These regional forces collectively constitute the Imperial Army, responsible for guarding fortresses, patrolling borders, repelling invaders, and often acting as local law enforcement. Armed with a diverse array of weapons, including halberds, swords, and spears, these soldiers serve a crucial role in upholding the Empire's security and stability.

Additionally, the Empire possesses the capability to utilize the warships of the Imperial Navy, divided among the First Fleet, Second Fleet, and Third Fleet stationed in the provinces of Hansa, Söölland, and Sigenstein respectively. Furthermore, Imperial forces are supplemented by militia troops and professional mercenaries, enhancing their military capabilities.

Throughout its existence, the Empire has been a nation oriented toward warfare, confronting countless adversaries with the unwavering resolve, strength, and faith of its citizens. As warfare evolved over the centuries, the Empire adapted, incorporating innovations and inventions to enhance its military prowess. Today, the Imperial Army boasts extensive stockpiles of black-powder weaponry and advanced technological marvels.

To maintain a highly trained and equipped force, each Imperial soldier undergoes regular training and is provided with necessary resources by the Imperial government. Armed with a variety of weapons suited for different engagements, soldiers drill regularly to enhance their combat skills and cohesion as a unit. Additionally, they serve as guards, patrolling streets and roads to uphold law and order.

Regiments typically display colors associated with their provinces or city-states, although variations exist based on individual traditions, preferences, and circumstances. While some units adhere to strict uniform regulations, others allow soldiers to procure their own attire, resulting in a diverse range of gear.

In battle, each regiment is supported by auxiliary units, artillery companies, cavalry squadrons, and War Wizards trained by the Magisters of the Conclaves of Magic. This coordinated approach has made Imperial armies formidable adversaries in the world, capable of achieving remarkable success if unhindered by internal challenges and external threats.

Technological Level

As one of the rare nations globally to have mastered the utilization of gunpowder, firearms, mortars, artillery, and beyond, the empire holds a formidable position in this medieval realm, boasting unparalleled firepower and weaponry compared to other nations. Yet, their prowess extends beyond gunpowder alone; they have also integrated magic into both civilian life and military operations. While not necessarily leading in magical expertise globally, they certainly vie for housing some of the world's most skilled magic practitioners. With the combined might of gunpowder and magic raining down upon their adversaries, many opt to steer clear of engaging in conflict with the empire.

Religion

A deeply superstitious society, the Empire has always turned to its deities for solace, prosperity, and deliverance in a world plagued by suffering, ruin, and decadence. Virtually every village, town, and city allocates resources and land for the construction and upkeep of at least one temple dedicated to an Imperial god. These sanctuaries serve as repositories for daily offerings, made in the hope of earning divine favor and potentially improving one's circumstances.

The influence wielded by these religious cults extends deeply into the political framework of the Empire, whether through spiritual guidance or financial leverage. Notably, both the Cult of Sieghardt and the Cult of Dyre possess electoral power in selecting the next Emperor, a privilege traditionally reserved for the Imperial Princes. Presently, the Cult of Sieghardt holds significant sway within the Empire's intricate bureaucratic network, boasting the authority to cast three votes during the selection process, distributed among the Grand Vicar and his two Archlectors. The expanding influence of the Sieghamite Cult has led to the widespread perception of the Empire's populace as simply "Sieghardt's Folk" or the "Sons of Sieghardt."

Across different regions of the Empire, varying degrees of religious observance are evident, often centered around specific pantheons. In the northern provinces, inhabitants of the rugged terrain often venerate a distinct set of deities, whereas in the southern regions, worship of a set of deities not present in the north prevails.

These religious disparities have occasionally fueled conflicts within the Empire, most notably during the tumultuous period known as the Age of the Five Emperors(Era of Turmoil). Amidst civil strife, an elected Emperor and his Sieghamite adherents clashed with four rival claimants from Mindenland, Pars, Morigana, and Hessmark, each aligned with different deities. The resulting devastation and prolonged warfare prompted the establishment of a regular Conclave of Faith in Helgendorf, where high priests representing various faiths convene to resolve disputes peacefully under the auspices of the reigning Emperor, thereby averting further bloodshed.

The Patron God

The empire has been known to worship a Mortal God.

The Old Rodinia Pantheon

These are gods that were present in the days before Sieghardt, the fervor in faith has changed since then, as some gods have large followings, whereas others have been forgotten or outlawed. The empire believes in the eastern gods of the Old Rodinia Pantheon

Outlawed Gods

Despite being generally open about the worship of foreign deities, some gods are forbidden. The Dark Gods and their kind, and the gods of races like the Orcs are the most prominent, but many others also exist and are targeted by witch hunters.

Foreign Relations

The Empire has maintained peaceful coexistence for many years with some nations, but others have a bitter relationship with the empire.

Mordred

Despite the current peace, the empire's relations with the Kingdom of Mordred is extremely poor, as they hold rightful Imperial lands and their heartland was once a part of the empire, but ever since the Era of Turmoil, the people have not been under imperial rule. The recent Bloody War soured relations even further where neither side trades with the other.

The warmongering Mordred have allowed rogue soldiers to raid and pillage imperial land, when confronted to solve this, the Mordred kingdom never responds to the empire.

Order of the Sun

The Order of the Sun much like how the kingdom of Mordred has poor relations with the empire, they too took lands, seizing the imperial province of Söölland during the Bloody War. As the order continues to bring more and more troops from their homeland, war between the empire and the order is on the horizon.

The Yang

The Yang Empire and The Yang Enclave have extremely poor relations with the empire. Long ago the two empires traded and were never mortal enemies, but ever since The Accursed Sell and Era of Slavery over 5000 years ago, the two empires have not seen eye to eye.

But recently their relations have reached the poorest they have been since the Era of Slavery, as during the Bloody War, the Yang invaded and seized some lands of Marienburg and wiped the imperial province of Eisengard off the map, in order to establish the enclave. All know that war will be waged over these lands in the near future, until then the two empires watch each other closely. Another matter of grave anger to the imperial people, is pirates, more specifically Yang-funded pirates, it is believed that the Yang fund pirates, this is because all ships that leave the southern ports are raided by pirates, but Yang ships come and go without confrontation. Marienburg is most angered by this as they are a hub of trade.

Vale

The Hated bulge, all Imperial people hate the Vale, more than anything in life. Because of the large barrier around the Vale, it can be seen miles away, and each morning when the people wake, they are constantly reminded of the empire's past failure. Many have tried to get through the barrier, but to no avail. The Vale is the most hated among the empire.

Demon Kingdom of Lanka

There are few interactions with the Demon Kingdom of Lanka, the most is rogue armies of the Lanka that manage to come and attack in the north.

Agriculture & Industry

The empire is predominantly recognized for its expansive farmlands and thriving industries. Given the substantial population to sustain, agriculture holds paramount importance, while the textile industry ensures the provision of luxurious garments for the empire's inhabitants. Additionally, the empire boasts diverse sectors such as quarries, forges, pottery, mining, and construction, all contributing to the operation of its extensive factories that facilitate mass production. Furthermore, the empire's network of taverns serves as a crucial asset, permeating villages and towns across the realm as prominently as smithies or general stores.

Trade & Transport

The empire boasts a network of paved roads spanning its entire territory. These well-maintained thoroughfares not only support commerce but also promote ease of travel. The presence of these roads acts as a deterrent to bandits, as encountering agents of the Emperor along the way is a risk they are reluctant to take.

The majority of sea trade flows from the port of the City of Marienburg.

Education

The majority of individuals within the empire enroll in public schools, which, while not extravagant, adequately equip common children for their futures. However, for those fortunate enough—be they wealthy, esteemed, noble, or simply lucky—the Imperial Academy beckons as the pinnacle of educational excellence. It serves as a magnet for the empire's most brilliant minds, particularly in engineering. A humble peasant who gains admission to the academy is destined for significant influence in their lifetime. Renowned for producing top-tier professionals in various fields, the Imperial Academy is the alma mater of distinguished military leaders, engineers, artillery specialists, lawyers, and more.

Infrastructure

For centuries, the empire has dedicated efforts to enhance its infrastructure, aiming to enhance the quality of life for its citizens. The expansive network of imperial highways facilitates swift travel, surpassing the efficiency of dirt roads, complete with sturdy bridges to traverse previously impassable rivers. Every city boasts sewage systems and aqueducts, ensuring sanitation standards are met. The landscape is dotted with defensive structures, including walls and fortifications, ensuring the safety of its populace. Public amenities such as bathhouses, libraries, courts, and schools are ubiquitous in settlements across the empire. Furthermore, the empire boasts robust defenses, with heavily fortified provinces, fortified with an array of forts and fortresses. Garrisons and checkpoints are strategically placed throughout every province to maintain security.
