Dragon

Dragons are a species of Monster found in The New World. They previously existed in The Old World as well, but are no longer extant there. Dragons are massive flying reptiles renowned for their keen intellect, deadly breath weapons, and overwhelming physical power. They possess their own Language, Draconic, which is also spoken by the Dragonborn, their presumed descendants, and worship a pantheon of Deities which includes Bahamut and Tiamat. There were ten known Sub-Species of Dragon in the Old World: Black Dragons, Blue Dragons, Brass Dragons, Bronze Dragons, Copper Dragons, Gold Dragons, Green Dragons, Red Dragons, Silver Dragons, and White Dragons, though it is unknown whether all of these still exist in the New World.

On 9/5/213, Djinn, Günther, Helena, Myth, Petra and Ranaghar discovered the first sign of Dragons in the New World, a series of carvings at Günther's Fall depicting members of the Aearee, Ostor, and Quessir Races offering sacrifices to the creatures. Definitive proof of their existence was found on 11/28/213, when Gamgam, Homash, Lyudmila, Ranaghar, Stigr, and Walter were gifted a Dragon scale by the Harpy matriarch, Lasthena. Finally, on 2/11/214, Anja, Eagrym, Günther, Ivellios, Lyudmila, and Ranaghar encountered a living Silver Dragon, Baerithyn Rex, in the Red Mountains east of Gatefall.

Civilization and Culture

History

Dragons have been extinct in the Old World since early in the Age of Discovery. According to Baerithyn Rex, they were once the undisputed rulers of the New World, but nearly destroyed themselves in an ancient Civil War fought between the worshipers of Bahamut and Tiamat. Even now, Dragons are respected and feared by the New World's humanoid inhabitants, who often pay tribute for the right to settle in their territory.
