Duchy of Toyuk
The Duchy of Toyuk is overseen by the Gaen family. The current Duke is Hoswen Gaen, named for his ancestor, Hoswald Gaen . Though not the smallest duchy, Toyuk is not divided into counties. This limits the prestige of the title somewhat while also affording the Gaens a lot of personal power.
Demography and Population
There are ten settlements of note in the Duchy of Toyuk: one city (Toyuk) and nine villages with more than a few hundred inhabitants. In 4050 MA, it was estimated that the duchy is populated by around twelve thousand people, though the assumptions used by the Queen's may be based in pre-Demon War figures.
The majority of the duchy's residents are Westrin Humans, but a sizable minority of Jarsokkan Humans can be found in the city of Toyuk.
Territories
Although not the smallest of the six duchies of Youk Kingdom, the Duchy of Toyuk is not divided into counties. This affords the Gaen family with lots of personal power, but limits the prestige of their title.
Military
In times of war, the Duke or Duchess of the Duchy of Toyuk calls upon the Barons and Baronesses to gather a requisite number of soldiers. Each village is generally expected to provide one hundred foot soldiers or ten light cavalry and Duchy of Toyuk is expected to provide seven hundred foot fifty soldiers, two hundred fifty light cavalry, twenty Knights, and half a dozen spellcasters.
If each settlement were to send only the minimum number of foots soldiers, the Duchy of Toyuk would have a force of one thousand six hundred fifty foot soldiers, two hundred fifty light cavalry, twenty Knights, and six spellcasters.
