Royal Duchy
The Royal Duchy is overseen directly by the King or Queen of the kingdom. In the year 4050 MA, that is Queen Jordyn X, though she is at present too young to do any actual administration. It is by far the largest of the duchies, consisting of seven counties, the Royal County being both the largest and richest.
Demography and Population
There are forty-five settlements of note in the Royal Duchy: one city (Youk), six towns, and thirty-eight villages with more than a few hundred inhabitants. In 4050 MA, it was estimated that the duchy is populated by around thirty thousand people, though the assumptions used by the Queen's surveyors may be based in pre-Demon War figures.
The vast majority of the duchy's residents are Westrin Humans.
Territories
The Royal Duchy is comprised of seven counties, each controlled by a Count or Countess.
The Count of the Royal County is the Duke of the Royal Duchy by default, who also happens to be the King of Youk Kingdom. It is comprised of all the lands in the Youk River basin, which holds a total of eleven settlements of note, including Youk.
Military
In times of war, the Duke or Duchess of the Royal Duchy calls upon the Counts and Countesses to gather a requisite number of soldiers. Each village is generally expected to provide one hundred foot soldiers or ten light cavalry; each town is expected to provide five hundred foot soldiers, one hundred light cavalry, or twenty-five Knights and at least one magic user; and Youk is expected to provide one thousand foot soldiers, five hundred light cavalry, one hundred Knights, and a dozen spellcasters.
If each settlement were to send only the minimum number of foots soldiers, the Royal Duchy would have a force of seven thousand eight hundred foot soldiers, five hundred light cavalry, one hundred Knights, and eighteen spellcasters.
