House Stríbheatha
House Stríbheatha, also known as Bleiddiaid Peadaran, is one of the seven major noble houses of Sabersycha; house members trace their lineage to Stríbheatha the Loyal, the sixth son of Peadaran. Lording over Ardcathair from the castle of Ardcaisleán, the house is known for its fierce loyalty to the principality above all else, adhering to its laws and traditions to the letter.
Culture
Out of all houses, Stríbheatha is considered to be the least politically inclined. House members blur the line between candour and bluntness, often speaking their mind with no regards to etiquette or seemliness; however, they will never break protocol nor will they act in a way that isn't in accordance with Sabersychan customs. Ironically, they are generally perceived as hot headed warriors that see grave insults in minor offenses, violent dim-witted drunkards, and as sycophants groveling before the prince, a public image which they take no effort to change. They prefer to be underestimated.
Public Agenda
House Stríbheatha is one of the three martial houses of the principality, together with house Fuaráin and house Colcamin, and must hold standing forces while guarding the south-western border; however, they are also tasked with providing the Prince of Sabersycha with an elite unit known as the Mactereans, which answer solely to the prince. Mactereans comprise the closest circle of the royal guard, protecting the prince and his immediate family and serve as occasional emissaries in certain situations.
They are also rumored to carry out assassinations on the prince's behalf; while not an official part of their role and though other than mere rumors support this claim, a macterean will follow any order issued directly by the prince. Mactereans can see through any and all illusions relating to the prince, and can even see through transmutation spells if they attempt to imitate the prince; how they can do so is a closely kept secret of house Stríbheatha.
