Weirland

Only under official Evorian rule for a couple of years, this region once belonged to the laissez-faire Riverlands, but was annexed by them for gold. Its main use is riverfishing, which the populace (almost entirely Stout Halflings) use weirs to catch the swift fish that swim downstream to the mighty Lauf river. The name is derived from an old halfling word weire meaning "to cry." The name and culture of the area is inextricably linked to the old legend, the Tale of the Weirmaiden.   The counties in Weirland are suffixed with "-lych" pronounced leek. Most popular counties are Omanlych, Darbalych, Veltalych, and Muorelych. The suffix "-ham" is also used, though it's for older cities.

Geography

Lush forest and mountains birth a lake called Weirsea. Dozens of quick moving water rushes in streams or rivers down east toward the Riverlands and sea. At some point in the rivers and streams, the salty water from the Weirsea turn sweet and fresh.

Fauna & Flora

Lush trees and quasi-jungles. Small tribes of lizardfolk reside in pockets avoiding the formidable Stout halflings.

Natural Resources

Riverfish charge the waters, making food relatively easy for inhabitants here. They also sell well in the markets up north. It is believed the dwarves of Dornakar Balo are building rails for their trains to underneath the Weirhead so they can get fish, a delicacy, more easily.
