Risk assessment update:
Tasked with investigating instability in the powdered additives in the school supply, Malnar was able to inspect the material and find evidence of magical alteration, which seemed to have no effect other than the aforementioned instability. The additive itself is normal when used in anything but magical crafting, but it will cause magically crafted goods to fail after a set time period, and higher levels of magical crafting with this instability could prove dangerous if not discovered. We investigated the supplier bamidele, he seemed unaware of the effects and was willing to disclose the identity of his own source (who apparently had not sold to anyone in the bazaar other than bamidele himself), we are waiting for the next sale to attempt questioning. Given the subtle and likely deliberate nature of the magical alteration, in addition to the extremely limited range of affected parties we should strongly consider the possibility this was a targeted attack at magambyaan resources. If so then the serpentfolk coil spies represent a potential suspect, though nothing has specifically implied there involvement at this time.

I finally managed to see Wet again, and helped out at the orphanage generally. It was nice, I really liked talking to the kids again. He was apparently having some trouble with this other boy "Joey" and...yeah he sounded a bit like a child of a Matakali noble, but hes also just a lonely kid. A lonely, socially inept incredibly entitled kid, I think I played the mediator ok. And even if I doubt they will make fast friends anytime soon I have hopefully helped Wet avoid having to pummel someone. I wanted him to see nonviolence work, he's a good boy. The other children seemed to be in mostly good spirits, although a lot of them are too young to really understand their situation, they are just grateful and happy to be here. I need to make more of an effort to spend free time here helping out.
