Moon Elf

Race Information

Like all elves, the Teu-tel-quessir were tall, close to humans in height, but more slender and beautiful. Moon elf skin was pale, sometimes with an icy blue hue. Moon elf hair was commonly black, blue, or silvery white, although human-like colors were heard of as well, though very rare. Moon elf eyes had an unearthly appearance, with hues within the normal human range, but other colors were also possible. Some exhibited a characteristic best described as golden or silver flecks speckled through the iris. Male moon elves were typically taller than females.

Society

Moon Elves, known for their nomadic and spirited lifestyle, are commonly found mingling with other elven subraces and various human-dominated regions. They prefer modest and functional living spaces, embracing a lifestyle of simplicity and comfort. Known for their lighter-hearted approach compared to Sun Elves, Moon Elves enjoy humor in their songs and tales, and their art is diverse, often incorporating elements of painting and sculpture. Festivities, including feasting and revelry, are integral to their culture, along with a penchant for games of chance.   In times of conflict, Moon Elves reveal their serious side, skilled in both combat and magic. They approach warfare with a blend of hope and humor, seeing levity as essential during darker periods. Socially, Moon Elves form loose communities based on familial ties, with democratic decision-making where all members have a voice. Leadership roles, like elders or war-leaders, are assigned based on the community's needs, particularly in times of danger. Their lifestyle is transient, with settlements seldom lasting more than a few seasons.

Relations

Moon Elves are the most welcoming of non-elves among their kin. They frequently interact with a multitude of races throughout their lives, valuing the diversity and unique perspectives each brings. However, they often find cooler receptions from their own kin due to their openness. Specific relations include:
Orcs
Historical enemies, stemming from ancient conflicts between the elven and orcish gods.
Drow
Viewed as betrayers of their shared elven lineage, there is mutual animosity between Moon Elves and Drow.
Undead
Generally despised as unnatural foes, with a particular disdain for their immortality.
Other Monstrous Races
Elves generally oppose races that exemplify evil and cruelty.

Physical Qualities

Moon Elves possess a delicate and ethereal beauty, often with fair skin sometimes tinged with blue, and hair colors ranging from silver-white to black, red, or blue. Their eyes are typically blue or green with gold flecks. Dressing in rustic yet finely crafted clothes, they favor earth tones for camouflage and brighter colors for celebrations. They sometimes wear body paint or tattoos in mystical patterns.

RP Guide

The Reverie
Elves, including Moon Elves, enter a trance-like state called "reverie" instead of sleeping, allowing them to reflect on memories while remaining semi-conscious of their surroundings. It is known that the first hundred years, Reverie allows the practitioner to view glimpses of memories of their past lives. In the Reverie, wood elves relive old memories, allowing them to experience past events vividly. This process is more than just recalling memories; it is a profound re-experiencing of life events, complete with emotions and sensations.
Elven Aging
Elves live extraordinarily long lives, often witnessing the rise and fall of entire civilizations.
Moon Elf Perspective
Moon Elves are adventurous and enjoy traveling across Faerûn's wilderness. They value learning from other cultures and often serve as mediators between different races.

Corellon Larethian:
The chief deity of the elven pantheon, Corellon Larethian, represents the highest ideals of elvenkind. As the creator of the elves, he embodies magic, music, arts, crafts, and war. Moon Elves hold Corellon in the highest regard, celebrating his principles of beauty, magic, and learning.
Sehanine Moonbow:
As a goddess who watches over the dreams of the elven people, Sehanine Moonbow is particularly revered by Moon Elves. She represents the mysticism of the moon, illusions, and a connection to the Feywild. Her domains include divination, dreams, travel, and the passage of souls.
Hanali Celanil:
The goddess of love, romance, and beauty, Hanali Celanil resonates with Moon Elves who value the artistic and emotional aspects of their culture.

As the elven goddess of the air, weather, and birds, Aerdrie Faenya is celebrated by Moon Elves who feel a strong connection to the sky and the natural world.
Rillifane Rallathil:
The god of nature, Rillifane Rallathil is revered by those Moon Elves who are closely attuned to the natural world and seek to protect it.
Erevan Ilesere:
The trickster god of mischief and change, Erevan Ilesere is sometimes venerated by more adventurous or unconventional Moon Elves.
Angharradh:
A composite deity that represents the unity of three other elven goddesses (Aerdrie Faenya, Hanali Celanil, and Sehanine Moonbow), Angharradh is worshiped as a symbol of elven unity and protection.
