Dear Journal,
Today was a day that I will not soon forget. I was asked to take on an apprentice and teach him the ways of crafting and metal work. As we travelled with the caravan, I started by teaching him how to read. Unfortunately, our journey was interrupted when the caravan was attacked by a group of Fae. Lyris and Nightshade fought bravely, while I was able to slay a Hobgoblin and help convince a Cataphract to surrender.
As it turned out, the Fae had a truce with the locals and were not supposed to attack anyone within a tree, while the locals were not supposed to attack from trees. Our prisoner, the Cataphract, had broken this truce by attacking Lyris in a tree. In exchange for keeping this a secret, I agreed to allow the Cataphract to assist and protect me during negotiations.
