Session 20230119 Flute Negotiations
General Summary
Bertrum's Journal
Continued from last Session...
Together with Lyris and Nightshade, I approached the Fae encampment to negotiate a prisoner exchange. I went in alone, with the Cataphract as my only protection. I was shocked to see that there were as many as 30 human prisoners being held in the camp. I decided to try and free them all, not just our two comrades.
I negotiated with Chavallier, the leader of the Fae, and offered to trade a flute of exquisite craftsmanship that I had made myself. I made a bet with the Chavallier that if the flute surpassed their own instruments, he would release all of the prisoners and grant us safe passage to the next town. If not, I agreed to become their prisoner.
The bet was on, and a Fae musician played an epic song on the flute. To my delight, I won the bet and left with all of the prisoners, some of whom were in a poor state after being soul-ravaged. Nightshade ran ahead to stop the caravan so that I could catch up with the prisoners. During the night, while searching for the caravan, I heard hunting horns, indicating that the Fae were not honouring the safe passage agreement. We all hid, and the next day we finally met up with the caravan. I am proud to say that I am now considered a hero among the caravan.
This experience has taught me the importance of bravery and the power of negotiation. I will continue to use my skills to help others and make a difference in the world. Sincerely,
Bertrum
