Session 20240613 Velvet Plum horror
General Summary
Bertrum's Journal
Journal Entry:
With the mercenary threat to our beleaguered rebels abated, our attention turned to the task of remedying the turmoil that gripped the lands. Our strategy unfolded with a deft touch, as I dispatched Lyris, whose gift for swaying the masses and his swift travel, with a copy of my treatise in hand, to the surrounding plantations. His mission was to elucidate my vision of ethical and equitable treatment, and persuade the workers to remain and labor as a cooperative.
Seizing the moment, we endeavored to purchase as many plantations as possible from their owners, who were stricken with fear by the slave revolt. Our aim was to manage these lands ourselves, transforming them into bastions of fairness and productivity. Lyris set forth on his own, while the rest of us moved as a cohesive unit, carried by the power of a sorcerous whirlwind.
In our travels, we stumbled upon a plantation that revealed itself to be a demesne, overseen by a dragon-blooded steward. Horror gripped my soul as I beheld the slaves in the fields, who had grotesquely "taken root" and were slowly transmuted into plum trees. These trees bore a delicacy cherished by Nexus's elite, though perhaps the true origin of this perverse treat was unknown to them.
In conversation with the overseer, we extracted the name of the family owning this abomination of a plantation. It is my fervent hope that I can secure ownership of this place and reverse as much of the malevolent transformation as possible. Communicating my ambitions to the Bull of the North, he jested that this was not the method he envisioned for empire-building, yet he graciously dispatched Samira with the necessary funds to facilitate these acquisitions.
With these endeavors set in motion, I made my way to Nexus to engage in parley with the Guild. My objective is to persuade them to support our non-violent resolution to the slave uprising and to preemptively forestall any appeal they might make to the formidable 7th Legion army from Lookshy.
Our approach hinges on convincing the Guild of the prudence of our methods, aiming to transform the prevailing turmoil into a harmonious reconstruction. As I prepare for this crucial negotiation, my thoughts are filled with the hope that reason and righteousness will prevail over conflict and oppression.
Thus, the chronicles of our journey continue, etched in the annals of time as we strive for justice and equity in a world fraught with strife.
Yours in steadfast resolve,
Bertrum Blumenthal
