Session 20230914 Golden Leaf Canal
General Summary
Bertrum's Journal
Dear journal,
In the labyrinthine realm of Chanta, Nightshade embarked on a perilous journey of exploration. The city, a marvel to behold, was a daunting enigma, its structures woven intricately within the colossal trees, creating a three-dimensional tapestry of walkways and dwellings. Nightshade's valiant efforts to navigate this arboreal metropolis were met with formidable challenges, yet her determination remained unwavering.
Meanwhile, my own pursuit led me to a reputable garment factory, where military uniforms were meticulously crafted. It was here that I endeavoured to negotiate a partnership for the production of my ingenious backpacks. The mistress of this establishment, known for her unwavering dedication to quality, captured my admiration. In earnest discourse, we discussed the potential of manufacturing my backpacks, and she provided estimations of production costs and capacities.
Subsequently, guided by my astute companion, I was introduced to officers responsible for the procurement of supplies. In the spirit of camaraderie and business, we indulged in an opulent luncheon, where I presented the prospect of my revolutionary backpacks, designed to alleviate the burden of their brave soldiers. The possibility of providing them with my ingenious creations was met with intrigue and optimism. A bold order of 100 backpacks, as a testament to their effectiveness, was placed, along with a significant quantity of pemican, though its necessity in Chanta differed from that in Kajeth.
Upon our departure from the sumptuous inn, an unexpected encounter awaited us. Spring's First Kill, our messenger god, had returned from his mission to relay our message to Fear Eater. Urgency echoed in his words as he conveyed the urgency of a meeting with Fear Eater, who was en route to Resplendent Peak, a destination northwest of Chanta. In haste, arrangements were made for the swift production of pemican, albeit at a slightly higher cost due to the exigency of the situation. With trust in my guide's capabilities, I entrusted him with overseeing the production and delivering the finished products to the supply officers. Without delay, we embarked on a journey down the river, employing the sorcerous whirlwind to hasten our progress and to rendezvous with Fear Eater. Our passage was perilous, and the looming spectre of the Wild Hunt, which was traveling upriver toward Chanta, served as a constant reminder of the precariousness of our situation. Upon our reunion with Fear Eater, crucial information was exchanged, and the presence of the Dawn Caste Solar, the Lord of Returning Justice, in Chanta became a focal point of discussion. Although our hope was to persuade him to join us, our arrival in Chanta was met with the disheartening news of his recent departure, leaving us bereft of his counsel and presence.
Our departure from Chanta was as swift as our arrival, guiding us along the Golden Leaf Canal to Resplendent Peak. The majesty of this First Age construction, a marvel to behold, was somewhat overshadowed by the weariness that gripped me, for I had borne the responsibility of piloting the magical whirlwind throughout our journey. Upon our arrival at Resplendent Peak, Fear Eater revealed his intention to venture westward to Plenilune, the stronghold presided over by the formidable Yurgen Kaneko, known as the Bull of the North, and his sorceress advisor, Samea. Deciding to accompany him on this momentous journey, we welcomed the prospect of a more exotic reward for our efforts, leaving behind the bustling region of Halta as the shadow of the Wild Hunt loomed ever closer. The journey to Plenilune was facilitated through the arrangement of a Haslanti air-boat, a technological marvel exclusive to these ingenious people. Crafted from the ethereal combination of spider silk and feather steel, an alloy known solely to the Haslanti, these air-boats defied gravity itself. Their unique construction captured my imagination, kindling within me a desire to explore their engineering secrets and perhaps conceive an air-boat of my own design.
Amidst these events, my creative pursuits did not wane. I completed the crafting of another artifact, one designed to harness the power of lucid dreaming. This device allowed the recording of dreams, rendering them accessible for playback to others. With it, I envisioned a means to compensate for the educational gaps in my training of Yamak, my dedicated apprentice. Training dreams, replete with advanced blacksmithing techniques, could now be shared, ensuring his progress and mastery of the craft. As our voyage continued, we remained steadfast, charting a course toward the fabled Plenilune, where our fate would intertwine with the enigmatic Bull of the North and the sorceress Samea, beckoning us toward uncharted territories of destiny and discovery.

Nightshade's Journal
The night cloaked us in its inky embrace as we embarked on yet another clandestine mission, our shadows melding with the darkness. In the depths of the wilderness, I felt at home, a creature of the wild, part lynx, part predator, and wholly pragmatic. The wind whispered secrets to me, and the forest responded with silent approval. Tonight, our unusual team had received a request from the enigmatic Fear Eater, who had sent a messenger beseeching us to retrieve him and deliver him to a town known as Resplendent Peaks. It seemed a simple enough task, but in our line of work, simplicity often concealed the most treacherous of challenges. Bertrum, with his mastery of the arcane, summoned a magical whirlwind to transport us through the night. Riding that ethereal tempest, we soared above the trees and valleys, avoiding the prying eyes of those who hunted us. A marvel of stealth and cunning, I navigated our path past our pursuers, ensuring we remained undetected. Upon reaching our destination, we located Fear Eater and prepared for our return journey to Chanta. Our next objective was to retrieve a reckless samurai named Justice, who had been putting himself in jeopardy with his ostentatious boasts and reckless carousing. However, fate had different plans, and Justice had vanished, leaving us with an unsolved puzzle. Resplendent Peaks awaited us, and Fear Eater had another favour to ask. My mind, however, was consumed by the prospect of traveling on an airship. The excitement of soaring through the skies like a phantom was almost too much to bear, and the name of the city to which we were headed faded into the background. In this world of shadows, I found myself captivated by the allure of the unknown, ready to embrace whatever challenges awaited us above the clouds. Signing off for now, Nightshade.
