Karak Hungren
Nestled into the steep mountains of Northguard, Karak Hungren is the only dwarfhold on the frozen continent. The many clans which call it home are hearty and weathered, stern survivors in the face of overwhelming odds. Led by the Thane of the Kragrock Clan, Arafrout Kragrock, they stand in righteous defiance of the machinations of the great Dragon, Hoarfrost, Storm of Ruin.
Demographics
Various clans of Dwarves call Karak Hungren home, and, thus, various ethnicities. The majority of the inhabitants are what's known as 'Tundra Dwarves', though there are a smattering of other backgrounds.
A portion of the city is dedicated to a Halfling community, a population of nearly a thousand smallfolk.

Government
Like all dwarfholds, Karak Hungren is an absolute monarchy, with the Thane being the patriarch of the most powerful clan. Traditionally, this is the Kragrock Clan, as it's founding family. Each of the lesser clans has a Thane of their own, but only Arafrout Kragrock is the Thane of the entire Dwarfhold.
Defences
To say that the Hungrenites are paranoid is an understatement; with near constant attacks from barbaric tribes, both above, and below, ground, and the somewhat constant attacks from minions of Hoarfrost, Storm of Ruin, Karak Hungren is, likely, the most heavily defended fortress ever designed.
Six redoubts are carefully dug into the surrounding rocks, providing overlapping fields of fire for hundreds (likely, thousands) of scorpions, ballistae, and incendiary launchers; every inch of ground can be blanketed in bolts and alchemist's fire within seconds. The pass leading into the valley is also protected by a state of the art fortress, Jarlsmoot, who's walls have never been breached.

History
Karak Hungren was founded shortly before the (unexplained) fall of Karak Loden, one of The Great Dwarfholds of The Old World. Many of the refugees and their clans fled towards Northguard in an attempt to escape the Land of Giants, and settled within the walls of their new home.
Tourism
Due to the constant threat of attack, and it's absolutely ridiculous climate, only fools and traders visit Karak Hungren. Those that do often return with baubles and precious metals not found anywhere else, and often describe their trips as both 'dangerous' and 'breathtaking'.
Natural Resources
Karak Hungren was founded atop an exceptionally rich supply of iron ore, as well as a (literal) mountain of gold. As they delved deeper into the riches of their home, the Dwarves discovered one of the rarest of all finds: a rich, exceptionally large vein of adamantine.
Long have my forebears defended this great Hall, and long after my death, my descendants will hold these walls.
