This predominantly elven settlement is the oldest city in Gylidd - and in the running for one of the oldest known cities in Myzelis - having been founded less than a thousand years after the first Inaethrid (more than fifty thousand years before present day). Little more than a collection of unique tribes at first, the city truly grew in size and construction at the height of the Hacharwyddic Empire around 39,000 BAI, when the elven Triumvirate of Calelis, Kethisarqueya, and Tahlisal united the elven peoples of Gylidd under one banner. Although elven communities have become far more diverse since the collapse of the triumvirate and the banishment of Tahlisal, Hynfaol is still a cultural center for all sorts of elves - as well as many other sylvan species. The architecture of this city is reminiscent of the incredibly tall trees that define the Verdant Plateau, incorporating themselves into those trees’ structures like treehouses, flowing through their roots in extensive caverns, and growing from the forest floor to spires that sometimes peek through the canopy hundreds of feet above.
