Green Fox Chapter 7
Cosi walked alongside his grandmother while Eva skipped excitedly up ahead. Elise held onto Cosi’s arm as they strolled home, her legs weary and longing for the fireside.
“You’ve been quiet on the walk back,” Elise said. “Feeling any better after the cleansing?” “I do,” Cosi replied, though his thoughts still lingered on the green eyes in the ravine as he absently scratched his arm. “Have you picked up a rash? Remind me to apply ointment when we’re home.” “It’s nothing. Just thinking about the mercenaries. Should we worry?” “No, no.” Elise patted his arm. For a few days, they’d have to be careful, but the hunters would leave soon enough. “Boden will keep them in line. And if he doesn’t, Neff will.” The cabin came into sight and Eva sprinted up the slope but stopped before the shed, glancing back at Cosi. “Who might you be, then?” Dren’s voice rang out as he emerged behind Eva. Spotting Elise and Cosi, he waved enthusiastically, a bundle of leather harnesses resting on his shoulder. If you'd like to read this as an ebook, please follow the link.
