Sea of Gorath

The Sea of Gorath is dotted with fishing villages and their local culture differs from the rest of Vesten. However, they prefer the protections Vesten offers them to the harsh rule of Ruskovich.   From the villages’ small harbors, people set off into the Sea of Gorath known for it’s water and ice elementals. Recently, exploration into why the place attracts so many elementals has raised interest.

History

Rumors and Tales:   • These are some of the best waters for fishing in the north. The rich biodiversity and high populations of marine fish commonly seen in markets the world over can be found here.   • The largest harbor in the area (though still quite small compared to other places) is in a village near the edge of the sea leading into the northern ocean.   • Pubs and public administrative buildings all have holy symbols of Lucetius. Praise is given first and foremost to him. Gorath is also appealed to (though through ritual rather than constant symbolism and active worship) in order to appease the chaotic god and keep him from sending wild storms and chaotic whirlpools that could drag boats to their doom.   • The fishing villages are rather insular, but not impolite or unkind to visitors. They simply value privacy and a more peaceful life. They will band together when faced with actual threats, though.   • A famous hero and adventurer in historical records from a few centuries ago came from these villages. Shrines and art dedicated around them can be found in homes and buildings, as they are very revered even to the present day.
