The Great End
A massive cliff overlooking the Sapphire Sea and the Eastern branch of the Caledonia Mountains. This is a place of great spiritual significance and, while not a traditional place to adventure, many seek the difficult climb (with plenty of danger along the way) in order to meditate and some are even said to have experienced vision quests of a sort while sitting at the End.
History
Rumors and Tales:
• Pilgrimages to this cliff have seen many come back claiming to be enlightened. Many people who were not formerly spiritually inclined have come back and become members of various churches or even becoming clerics and paladins themselves.
• Often it is bitterly cold here, between the altitude and the proximity to the icy north seas. Some who sought meditation and enlightenment had found their confidence and dedication waver in the chilly winds.
• Some say that you can hear the voices of the gods upon the winds when the stars are out and the sky is clear.
• The path to the cliffs is devoid of plant and animal life--just bare, solid rocks and occasionally snow. Not even elementals appear here.
• The most dangerous parts of the climb up aren't monsters or bandits--it is the harsh perils of nature itself that test the mettle of prospective pilgrims.
• It's said that ages ago, a sage used to live up here on this peak. No one knows if they were an avatar of a god or just some rando whose idea of enlightenment was helping others achieve it. Whoever they were, they aren't around anymore.
