Raja'ri Territories (Rah-jah-ree)

The Raja'ri Territories spans nearly two-thirds of Kalbela and under the rule of a confederation, consisting of five regional Warchiefs of varying races, ideals, and temperaments. And while they tolerate more than trust one another, they all secretly agree with one another that should one of them even humor the thought of betraying the confederation, the usurper will fall and be replaced within a season. The leadership and citizenry there hold onto ancient lands and traditions and many are still nomadic and mercantile in their ways, making the country's borders fairly elastic, encroach-able, and exploitable by border czars and poachers, but for those unscrupulous individuals that are caught where they do not belong and are not welcome with things that are not theirs... as the old Raja'ri saying goes: The Old Way is the Only Way.

Structure

High Warchief: Elected Head from one the current Five Warchiefs. The High Warchief has the sole authority to rally the clans in times of war.   The Five Warchiefs: The leaders of the Five Clans that make up the Raja'ri. The chiefs are usually village elders, battle harden warriors, or economic linchpins of their clans. When outside of Karackas the Warchiefs ask of and answer to their own tribal elders, councils, and people.   The Ten Hands: The metaphorical Left and Right Hand of a Warchief that act as advisors and, more importantly, bodyguards to the Warchief in almost any capacity. They are usually skilled in some politically important way, whether through magics, battle prowess, tactical intellect, or divine connection.   Village Elders: Whether they were prior chiefs, warriors, or acolytes themselves that have since stepped down from or aged out of their prior posts. They hold much sway over the Warchiefs in their personal tribal duties as many, if not all, are kin in one way or another.

Culture

The Raja'ri, regardless of race, value longevity and life experiences to help guide them as they tend to operate on the mindset of "whether you live or die is irrelevant, you did something that would pass on knowledge". They are also more polytheistic in their devotions in comparison to other lands, though they tend to lean towards more nature-aligned and bestial deities.

Territories

The Raja'ri Territories surround the Turquoise Bay and hold the Strait of Telemai making Karackas, realistically, only assailable by land, near 500 miles from Giamela's southwestern-most border and rumor has it those sparkling blue waters hold more than just sand and precious stone that keeps that bay safe. About one-third of the Twin-tail Peaks are within the territories and have been a boon for ore and metals. To the far south of the region lies the Great Southern Wall and its highest peak, the volcanic Heart of Fire mountain.

Military

The Confedeation of the Five armies are the citizenry (usually of the warrior-class), but in truth any able-body that can wield blade or spell are soldier material and expected to fight for glory of their clan and of the Raja'ri.

Foreign Relations

Relations with the Salvae Empire are cordial whereas there is pure animosity towards the Giamela Kingdom since the last border expansion almost one hundred years ago. The animosity borders on open war between the kingdoms.

Trade & Transport

Land/Sea Trade Networks, nomadic camps and merchants, explorers and adventures.
