Session 19-

by Misfortune

Hi Dad,

Today was long. And it all started with a tiring 8 hour and more ride just getting increasingly worried about the Trial of Fears. Luckily Gorjun is a huge fan of Lyndiana Bones and brings his favorite books along with him. I read from over his shoulder to keep distracted and then Edelweiss and Melecha kept us more distracted by making fun of the series. I know they were just having fun but... It was a low blow. I think I've come to the conclusion that if we're an adventuring party, we should do some team building exercises. Cause who knows when Gorjun snaps and hits someone over the head with a shovel.

When we got to the location of the Trial of Fears, Ymot just sort of let us go. He stood and watched as we went through a series of puzzles to even get to the Trial. The first one was kinda cool, we had to move around these pedestals with orbs on them to the right spots. Edelweiss was the one to notice that the wall of ice ahead of us was like an enchanted mirror and its reflection didn't match reality. So when we moved the pedestals to match the reflection, the way opened up ahead of us. It took us a while to get to the next part, so we talked about our homes. I of course got homesick for our stinky little swamp, but I really want to see Edelweiss' home in the mountains. Apparently there's flowers and meadows everywhere. His favorite flower out of all of them is the Snowbell.

The next puzzle, once we reached it, was not cool. It was horrifying. We walked up this mountain and reached a dead end that opened out into the deeply fogged sky. We ended up having to walk on the open air on this invisible and zig zaggy walkway. Which, eventually, also ended up in a dead end. Ymot assured us that these puzzles and trials wouldn't lead to our death, but I can't say I was convinced. Gorjun was the first to jump. I almost couldn't watch. He disappeared into the clouds and we heard nothing from him afterwards. One by one, everyone else followed until it was Melecha, myself, and the kobolds. The kobolds held hands and Melecha held mine, trying to comfort me. Though, when we finally did jump, we were separated and shot down these random slides that came from nowhere.

Now obviously, since I'm writing this, I survived. But honestly, I'm surprised that I did. What we experienced in there, all alone, sucked.
