After Xenyria's screw up, she rushes ahead without consulting any of us about what had happened. We followed her to the lowest floor of the crypt where she was fighting a group of specter guards. The room we found ourselves in was definitely a throne room, but the Boss was nowhere to be found. That was no concern to me, all I care about is getting Patrick and Gerald back home. When the specters were taken care of, Throden and I hurried to free Patrick and Gerald from their bounds. Instead of helping anyone, Xenyria had a temper tantrum about "losing the kill". Which, don't worry, has come up before and will most certainly come up again. In the same day even.
I scolded her for it; as you know from my letters I've been tired of her reckless behavior when it comes to battle. I'm afraid of her hurting myself or Melecha most of all, but I can't have her risking anyuone else's lives either.
The Boss decided to show up to taunt her some more. He appeared to us as an invisible chuckle which drove her over the edge. When Throden, Gorjun and Edelweiss attempted to find him, they found him when he shot spells at them from the ceiling. Few things I found interesting about this man or specter or whatever the heck he is:
he is a powerful mage, most likely a sorcerer, and at a high level
he had the ability to retaliate and shot our spells back at us
he also had the ability to shield himself from most attacks
most importantly, he is a fast runner
He was too much for us; he managed to take down Gorjun and got the upper hand when he cast magical darkness and attacked from within. I'm not sure if we ever got close to winning against him or what, but he got away. He seems to favor his invisibility and spider climb spells. While the rest of the team ran after what might've been him, Melecha and I tried to gather up the two guards. When Xenyria started throwing another tantrum, I knew we had lost him.

The floor of the crypt is certainly not one of my favorite places we've stayed to rest up, but at least it kept us warm from the snow outside. At this point, I was tired and desperate to get Gerald back to his family. I can't remember who, Throden says it was me which is definitely not true, but someone suggested we clear out the rest of the crypt. That idea was quickly revealed to be a bad one when the first room we raided was stuffed with zombies and armed skeletons. And then a whole entire ogre zombie climbs out of the rubble. It was smelly and disgusting and a bad time overall. Would not recommend. At least destroying these things got Xenyria to stop being too annoying. I still had to yell at her again for being obsessed with finding the guy that was obviously way too powerful for us. So instead of dealing with her anymore, Edelweiss and I left to gather up the guards do we could head back to the city.
I found out that like most things, money is something that Edelweiss doesn't understand. And that it's not too hard to help pull an arrow out of someone's arm. Or, at least, Gorjun didn't make too much a fuss about it.
As we left the crypt, we were compelled to watch this very average looking and behaving bird for whatever reason. Like, we could not stop looking at it. I tried to feed it, but felt weird about it after it transformed into one of the council members. I'm starting to get a little bothered about the council members showing up so conveniently right after we complete a daring and dangerous task. This time, it was Bran Hornraven, a druid who wears the color green in the Council. He had come in search of the Orange Council member, Simon who had been gone for some time after visiting a relative's grave. I certainly hope he hadn't run into any invisible giggling sorcerers. Well anyway, we parted ways. Now I'm going to head to sleep because we're camping out in the snow again and all we had for dinner was berries so I want time to pass by faster.
L0ve you lots,
Misfortune
