Continuing off of my last letter...
So now we're helping this guy named Illiad; whoever it is that's looking for him starts walking towards us with this decently sized group of guards. After basically just weirding them out for a while and allowing them to walk off, Gorjun says he detects two of them to have some sort of magical power. We weren't sure what that meant in the moment, so we decided to just take Illiad to the Council. Gorjun ended up taking the hat that Illiad stole from the shapeshifter, and I easily find out that it's charged with illusion magic. Which is a shame, I was hoping to try it out a bit for myself.
When we get to the council, we find out that they are already aware of Illiad and his ways. They appeared to be way m0re lenient towards him than I would've suspected, but it's whatever. At this point of the whole adventure, Illiad is no longer our main concern. Now it is the Doppelganger he managed to anger and two of the four guards we met earlier that had suddenly gone missing. This we learn after chatting with the head of the guard that had employed Xenyria and Melecha. We wanted to learn more about the two guards that Gorjun suspected to be magical in some way and instead learned that they had not checked back in with him and were being looked for by search parties. Obviously we joined in and we started by going to their homes to check. The first guard, named Patrick, lives alone, but his home had evidence of multiple people staying there. As well as blood. We hurried to the second guard's, Gerald, house, where he lives with his wife and child. Luckily they appeared to be safe and unharmed.
------
So what next, you may ask? You are about as sure of our next steps as we were. We had no real leads, except for maybe Patrick's house. We couldn't track the blood in anyway, though the party did ask me to lick it. Can't explain that 0ne, chief. I'm growing increasingly worried about my own safety being in their hands. Either way, we decided to ambush anyone who may enter Patrick's house. To the surprise of the Doppelgangers, and ourselves, we got the upper hand when they suddenly arrived at Patrick's home. We managed to keep one of them with us, and we hope to gain some sort of information from him by taking him back to the Council.
Staying safe as always,
Misfortune
