Dear Father,
We're back in the city finally. It was a long trek back through the snow, but at least the guards are safely back home. We brought them back to the Council first to talk about the whole experience. I was way too tired and hungry I think because I don't think I was paying very much attention. At least, I can't remember half of what we talked about. I think the gist of it being that the sorcerer may be something that's called a "voidwalker". Apparently there's a whole group of them that can travel through planes collecting items and knowledge of arcane or divine origins. Why they do so, no one knows. The council has been having a hard time keeping track of them. I assume because it's not all that easy to travel planes to follow after them. But that's really all I remember happening before we took the guards back home and then returned to the inn for some well-deserved lunch.
We get there to find the three kobolds helping out at the inn! It was so adorable. And apparently, they saved the innkeeper's life!
From what I could gather, I think that when we were planning to ambush to the doppelganger's at Patrick's house, the doppelgangers came here disguised as Edelweiss and Gorjun to ambush us. Crazy how that all worked out huh. Well, when we never showed up, the two doppelgangers beat up the innkeeper and tied him up. That's when the kobolds arrived to the inn and frightened them off. I'm so proud of them! And try not too think too hard about how their payment was a job working for the guy, they seem to be really pleased with themselves.
Melecha and I decide to nap away most of the exhaustion from our previous mission. I'm not sure what everyone else was up to, but afterwards I joined Throden downstairs and chatted with the kobolds. Throden wanted to talk to me about arguing with Xenyria. Which I understand, he's pretty close to her. Though I apologized for him if it made him uncomfortable, I did make it clear that I needed Xenyria to understand the harm she could cause the rest of the party with her actions. I just can't trust her until she can prove that she is not a danger to myself or Melecha. Intentional or otherwise. Throden didn't exactly seem pleased with that, I'm not sure if he expected me to just forgive Xenyria for her actions. He's a paladin, so that's my best guess.
I asked him how he was feeling after the trial, since he seemed so upset by it a few days ago. He actually appeared to have forgotten most of the emotion he felt from it, so I guess that's good? Actually, he started going into how he spoke to Koball in his trial. I figured that was who his patron was, but he doesn't actually have one it seems. And not to mention he didn't even recognize the name Koball, much less that today was Koball's holiday. I was entirely shocked by that until he told me he was even gifted prayer beads from Koball himself. Or at least Throden assumes so. You know I don't put too much stock in the divine, but it was quite impressive the attention that Throden has gotten. And hilarious that he cares about as much as I do about the gods. I suggested that he should maybe pray to Koball, maybe thank him for the beads, and he gave me a funny face.
The ideals of Koball suits Throden quite well I think. He doesn't understand what I meant by that, but I think they do nonetheless. Maybe Koball likes his natural drive for balance and justice. Unlike many other zealots who have to work to be the kind of people their divines want them to be.
Thinking a lot about quiet nights camping outside compared to the noisy tavern goers downstairs,
Misfortune
P.S. I know what day it is today! Tada! You can now date my letters when they arrive to you
