Session 9

by Misfortune

Dearest Father,

So today was a whackadoodle of a day. It was pretty chill at first, considering everyone was so solemn last night. Edelweiss started his yoga again in the middle of the tavern and this time the kobolds joined in. It was adorable.

Oh my insert god name here, have I told you about the kobolds? I can't remember. Dad. You have to hear about these kobolds.

So, I told you a bit about them before. I think. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, they owe a life debt to Throden and Edelweiss and Xenyria thought they were chickens. They're super cute and follow Throden around like ducklings. But since I know Draconic, I've gotten pretty close to them too. Today we had some downtime to go shopping and I got a little misty eyed at some point (You know, tough night and all) and they started crying too and tried to comfort me. I ended up having to comfort them because they had no idea what was going on and why we were all crying.

Once everyone felt better, they went shopping for a quill. A single quill for the three of them. Don't know why, but I made sure each of them got their own quill. They're a little dumb, but Kosj knows a little bit of Common and they look to him like he's got some kind of plan for them. So I decided to teach them! Call me Ms. Fortune from now on because these little dragons will be fluent in speech, reading and writing in no time! Gorjun took us to some wizard's tower and I took the kobolds and Edelweiss to a cozy nook to read to them. Edelweiss seems to have an issue with books and reading, so I just read one of his books to him.

Kosj wasn't interested in coming into the tower though, he hid behind Throden the whole time. I think before we met, Gorjun did something to Kosj in this library. At least, when I asked Rhyvos and Nurh what was wrong with Kosj, they both said "Gorjun". Obviously the grouchy old professor must've done something to him.

After going to the library and watching everyone's brains explode, we decided to go back to the tavern for lunch. And the kobolds and I wanted to take a nap afterwards. But before we could get there, this random dog came up to us and started sniffing us all. His owner soon appeared, claiming to be a council member of the city (A total lie) and all of a sudden everyone gets all aggressive with him. Gorjun starts threatening him for lying to us, and Xenyria grabs him and throws him into an alleyway. I can't say I was much more comfortable with the fact that Melecha joined them, but at least she wasn't throwing him up against walls just to get some information out of him. This totally random stranger who was quietly approaching us and obviously just looking for some help.

Turns out he's looking for some shapeshifter that he made angry and needs our help hunting it down. Edelweiss said his god said that helping this guy would be a necessary risk to take? But now we're just hunting down a random stranger for another random stranger?

None of this felt right. Especially after all the aggression that the others took out on him. Xenyria even had the nerve to scold Gorjun for not "using his words" and being aggressive towards the stranger when she was the only one to actually use force on the guy? Maybe it's just an overflow of emotions that everyone is having from yesterday, but I'm starting to distrust the judgement of some in our group. We've only known these people for a few days, I shouldn't have thought I knew who they were so easily I suppose.
