Cliffgrasp
A small village on the west side of the Adamant Mountains. Built into the hills at the base of a tall cliff face and on the many sporadic outcroppings, the village started as a modest copper mine.
The hills at the bottom have few level areas in addition to the challenge of talus and scree obstacles. The road which leads up to the village ends at the inn and stables, which have fortified roofs to protect from falling rock. The main mine entrance is at the base of the cliff face itself, with only a few other homes and points of interest down there. The rest of the community is built onto or into the areas which jut out. Lower levels are connected through natural or cut stone balconies, and feature more stone in their construction, while higher levels are connected via wooden platforms or bridges anchored to the stone wall with houses built out of lighter materials. Upon the cliff's top are the larger homes of village leaders, the primary livestock farm, and the Great Hall. Despite the build conditions being so difficult, the risk was deemed to be worth it to access the extremely rich copper veins and other ore deposits.
Industry & Trade
Cliffgrasp is responsible for providing the refined metal to mint most of the region's copper pieces. Additionally, they use their excess copper with other mined minerals for smelting into Bronze, which is then forged into various household goods, buttons, and even weapons or armor. An enchanter has made her home here, imbuing these weapons with preservation magic to counter the durability problems inherent with the softer metal.
History
21st Day of Mon Teloiv, 588 P.I.C.: The village of Cliffgrasp is invaded by a coalition of raiders made up of druids, barbarians, and cultists. Most of the villagers fled, and many of the defenders were slain. By the end, 13 survivors had been captured, the druidic leader absconded with much of the village's enchanted items and religious artifact, and the raiders settled in for an occupation.
22nd-30th Days of Mon Teloiv, 588 P.I.C.: The remaining raiders -led by the barbaric Madclaw and the conniving Ivadora- held the village and forced their captives to continue mining and forging gear for them. Six of the captives managed to escape, and two travelling adventurers were later taken hostage when they tried to help.
1st Day of Mon Hegrou, 588 P.I.C: A group known has the Hope Bringers encounter the escapees on their way north, and are convinced to help liberate the village. They are guided to Cliffgrasp by Lysandre Perdove and Skylar Pluma. Upon arriving, the group freed the hostages -Lux'hana Maye and Myllandra Nailo- and remaining villagers, then over the course of a long day of risking their lives managed to fell the raider leaders and either slay or repel their minions. That night, a simple celebration was held before the liberators went on their way.
