The First Gothic Kingdom before it was absorbed within the Septim Empire.
After arriving in the Westfork with his brothers and winning over the Dragon Cult, Ulthar crowns himself kingdom of Gotha : Ulthar I Strongborn.
Ulthar I Strongborn and his son Gareth undertook efforts to gain control over Ironheim and Windhelm. Due to Ulthar's untimely death and Gareth not being Dragonborn, the war endured a long time.
At the age of 30, Tiber Septim, ruler of Mulandir overthrew the Strongborn kings of Myrtana. The royal line in Myrtana was brutally murdered. After this he forged an alliance with Corinth and crowned himself the Dragon Emperor. After this a war followed with the Strongborn kingdom of Gotha. They were easily crushed by the combined might of Myrtana and Corinth, with the exception of Ironheim. During the war the Strongborn kings went into hiding.
During this time period the Kingdom of Gotha was part of the Septim Empire

Following the establishment of the Septim Empire, the Vardenfell family establishes itself as governors of the Gothic provinces. This also gave them a seat on the imperial council.
The Nordic Chieftains of Orotheim and Berk launched a surpise attack on the port of Windhelm using their famed longboats. The city was ransacked and only the ancient citadel was able to hold out against the Nordic invaders. As a response Tiber Septim drafted many new soldiers to the imperial army and used his swollen ranks to drive the Nordic barbarians out of his lands.
Due to increasing danger from the Wilds and the empire of Thedas the order of the Night's Watch is founded. Its mission is to defend the north-eastern border of the Empire. It was also supposed to quell any rebellions stemming from the rebellious people of Ironheim.
After the loss of the Dragon Keep to Nordic invaders, House Vardenfell started to fall in disgrace with the emperor Levius Septim. This was supported by incriminations made by house Redoran. In a duel between Gallecius Vardenfell and Lorkan Redoran, House Vardenfell lost the right to rule the city of Gotha and, consequently, its seat on the council. Following this public disgrace, emperor Levius dispossessed house Vardenfell and banished them from the realm. Lord Commander Pirius Redoran started to hunt the Vardenfell outcasts into the Wilds.
As war raged between the Angmarian orcs and the dwarf kingdom of Mazaar and the kingdom of Thedas, the necrolords of Gorgorath were allowed to rage unchecked. Galvis Regmur, a powerful necrolord from the Adamantine Tower, ventured to Gorgorath to study under Y'berion. This coincided with the astral passing of Coldharbour to Nirn. This lent enormous amounts of strength to Galvis, who transformed himself in a lich named the Girger and launched a massive invasion of Thedas. The Angmarians retreated and the dwarves and men of Thedas were forced to fight a long and horrible war against the undead. They sent a cry for help to emperor Gillian Septim, but he instead signed a truce with the Girger. The dwarves and humans made their final stand at the Watchtower of Amon Dar. After heavy fighting the Girger was defeated, but with his dying breath he cursed the kingdoms of Thedas and Mazaar. This curse changed Thedas in a desert, called the Red Waste, and changed the peoples of Mazaar and Thedas into undead.
Yormar Septim was crowned emperor in 1250. He was the second emperor to not be a dragonborn. Already before his reign noble houses outside of the council were gaining power within the empire, most notable amongst them being house Lannister in Myrtana. This even led Roland Lannister to openly defy the dragon empire, which gained him te support of the people of Vengard and the High Flame. Yormar was advised Grand Lectus Hieronymous Lex to send the imperial army to deal with the rebels. Hieronymous was secretly conspiring with Roland against the Septims and while the army was away they attacked Mulandir in 1277, razing the capital in the process. Yormar Septim and his Claw Yirim Telvanni were both brutally murdered. After Yormar's death Roland used the power vacuum to solidify his hold on Myrtana. In 1277 he massacred the remaining Telvanni family in the Conquest of Trelis and the High Flame Pyrokar V crowned him king of Myrtana in 1278.
In 1280 local noble Jorunn I Emursson rallied the people of Whiterun to his banner and in the chaos of the imperial collapse started to fight house Redoran. That same year he defeated their force, took Gotha and crowned himself king of Skaldia. His throne was named the Emerald Throne. In 1281 he added Odessa and the Falklands to his newfound kingdom. The lords of Rhudaur en Edaur opposed his conquests and beat his armies in 1289. Following this victory Alvaar Ironmaul crowned himself king of Rhudaur. In 1294 Jorunn died an early dead due to an ilness and was succeeded by his unpopular son Jormund III.
From the chaos of the demise of the septim Empire rose the short-lived Skaldian Kingdom.

In 1295 it became known that Jarl Raelin Thornshield of Windhelm sheltered the descendants of the long lost Strongborn bloodline. When rumour spread of the return of the fabled Strongborns the people rebelled against the Emerald Throne. Varric Strongborn took this opportunity to return to his ancestral homelands. He sailed to Odessa and the city joined his cause, when the fabled king arrived. At Whiterun Tarlok of house Stormcloak led a succesful rebellion against the Skaldians and joined the Strongborn claim to the throne. The Skaldian king Jormund fled to Denerim. Varric established his hold over Gotha and Umbria and was crowned King Varric I Strongborn by High Dragon Orthellus. He called together the moot on which Jarl Tarlok and Jarl Raelin held a seat and with their support marched on Denerim. In 1300 they defeated Jormund and brought the Falklands into the new Gothic Kingdom. What followed was a long war with Rhudaur, which ended in a truce in 1321, allowing Rimgund Ironmaul a seat on the council as Jarl of Rhudaur. The second Kingdom of Gotha was a fact.
After defeating the Skaldian Kingdom the Strongborn bloodline reinstated the Gothic Kingdom.
King Thorek of Angmar sent an army through the abandoned halls of Mazaar to conquer the lands on the other side of the Red Waste. These armies were led by his brothers Uruk and Varkrass. As the force of Thorek in Angmar itself was drained, groups of Wildlings banded together to rebel against his rule. They established the free region of Geldrin. In the meantime Uruk forged an alliance of local orc clans and wildlings to wage war on the Night's Watch. This growing threat forced Varric I Strongborn to strengthen the Night's Watch, also sending his oldest son Ulthar. Varkrass saw little gain in a war in the West and led his army south, establishing the independent Kingdom of Orsinium.
In 1362 Ulthar Strongborn became Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. He retook the lands of Edaur, which Uruk's Armies had taken the years before. In this he was aided by his friends Geralt Lancaster and Jorund Wolfheart. Soon after that Varric Strongborn died due to old age and Ulthar was crowned Ulthar III by High Dragon Glarthir Rorkstead. His first official decision was to name Wolfheart the new Lord Commander and Lancaster Ward of Dragon's Keep. His brother Holgunn was named Warden of the Realm and Jarl of Odessa.
Uruk renewed his alliances with the Orc tribes and wildings after the failure of his first conquest. They led a great force trapping the Night's Watch at Castle Black and Ironheim and opening the way for incursions into the realm. When they razed the city of Denerim Ulthar III Strongborn assembled the moot and called together the armies of the Jarls. His oldest son, Aegon Strongborn, was given command of this force. They defeated the main orc horde at Falcon's Peak. Although it was actually Holgunn that won the battle Aegon was given credit and Falcon's Peak was renamed Aegon's Hold. After the victory Aegon pushed forward to free the lands of Rhudaur en Edaur. When word reached the cities and fortresses that the King's son was coming to their aid, the Rhudaur and Night's Watch soldiers pushed out of their keeps to drive the orcs and wildlings from their lands. This greatly improved Rhudaur's relationship with Gotha. As the Night's Watch force was greatly depleted many Gothic regiments were added to the Watch, greatly reducing its independence.
Ulthar III Strongborn was assassinated in his palace in Gotha. It is a matter of debate whether this was done by the Lannisters of Myrtana or by the High Dragon Glarthir. Ulthar was succeeded by his son Aegon, who blamed the Lannisters for his father's death.
Following the assassination of Ulthar III, Aegon II Strongborn called the moot and the moot voted to go to war by a small margin. They split their forces and attacked Myrtana from two sides. The armies of Whiterun, Odessa and Umbria laid siege to Trelis, led by Holgunn Strongborn, while the new king led the bulk of Gothic forces and the Night's Watch onto Lutetia and Montera. The Myrtanians were warned of the impending attack and Lee Lannister awaited the Myrtanian army at Longfields. This resulted in a crushing defeat for the Gothic army. The king was slain, as was Lord Commander Wolfheart. The forces were routed and the remainder of the Ironheim troops and the Night's Watch troops were able to organize a defense of their homeland. Holgunn retreated from Trelis after learning of the defeat at Longfields. The Myrtanians continued to conquer the Falklands and Gotha in 1388, but were repelled at Whiterun and Rhudaur.
When the remnants of the Night's Watch retreat to Castle Black, it is revealed Lord Commander Wolfheart has named Marcus Vardenfell his successor in his will. Vardenfell declares the Night's Watch independent and allies himself to the Jarls of Windhelm and Ironheim.
After the death of most of the royal family at the battle of Longfields the Gothic Realms are left to fend for themselves.

The Night's Watch leads its alliance to war against the Angmarian host of Uruk. They defeat his forces and conquer Starkhaven, Karak Azul and Orcia. Afterwards they march on and purify the Dreadfort with help from local druids.
Tension in the alliance between Vardenfell and the Jarls of Windhelm and Ironheim is growing. Vardenfell decides to get them out of the way. First he outmanoeuvers Jarl Thornshield of Windhelm by gaining the support of the guilds. After removing Thornshield from power, Vardenfell founds the Windhelm Trading Company, allotting it the monopoly on naval trade from Windhelm. Next a war ensues with Jarl Ironmaul. The Night's Watch lays siege to Ironheim and eventually emerge victorious. As a next step they start annexing feudal lands in both provinces, effectively erradicating most feudal lords within a few years.
A trade treaty is signed between the Nordic Kingdoms and the Night's Watch. Increasing prosperity and trade flow in the harbours of Windhelm.
The dwarf prince Thorin Oakenshield approaches Marcus Vardenfell for aid in his quest to reclaim his homeland of Mazaar. Vardenfell lends his support and they launch an expedition into the lost dwarven Metropolis. They find the city infested by goblins, but by cleverly reinstating the dwarven automatons are capable of driving the goblin hordes from the city. Thorin Oakenshield is installed as the King under the Desert. As payment of his debt to the Night's Watch, the Windhelm Trading Company is given the rights to 1/3 of the mining excavations in Mazaar.
After discovering the settlement of Everglade, the Night's Watch discovers the Orcish realm of Orsinium in the Southern Wilds. Fearing another war in the Wilds, Vardenfell showers the Orc king Varkrass with gifts. This leads to a peace and trade treaty and the Night's Watch starts constructing the Great Eastern Highway. Varkrass also warns Vardenfell of rumours that his brother Thorek is attempting to once more cross the Red Waste to avenge the death of his brother Uruk.
During the summer of 1395 the Western gates of Mazaar were reopened by the Night's Watch. They encountered the Bands of Brothers and learned of a sinister plan by Thorek, orc king of Angmar. He wished to invoke the ancient Necrolord Angmar. This spurred the Bands and the Night's Watch to storm Thorek's castle. In an epic duel Marcus Vardenfell decapitated Thorek and ended the Angmarian threat. After the war an alliance was signed with the Bands of Brothers.
As Mehrune Dagon's plane of Oblivion passed Nirn, religious fanatics called the Mythic Dawn started opening portals to his realm throughout his Westfork. Several were opened in the Falklands, Rhudaur and Mulandir, but the largest one was opened near Lutetia. Seneca Angelos, duke of Lutetia, calls for aid and the Night's Watch answered his call in exchange for the fortress of Okara. This was the beginning of the alliance between the house of Angelos and the Night's Watch.
In 1398 the Jarls of Gotha learn that Eric Strongborn, son of Ulthar III, has survived the collapse of the Gothic Kingdom. A moot is called at Windhelm and after a lot of debate Eric is appointed the new King of Gotha by the moot. As Myrtana is preoccupied by the Zemerian invasion, the Night's Watch invades the Falklands and the Stormcloaks of Whiterun and Holgunn Strongborn of Odessa retake Gotha and Umbria for the Gothic King. The realm is once more unified under the Strongborn banner.
With the reinstatement of Eric Strongborn to the Gothic throne, the Gothic Kingdom is restored, although it now looks more like a federation than a kingdom.

In the year 1400 Marcus Vardenfell is contacted by a mage from the Adamantine Tower in Zemeria named Shalidor. He and several of his colleagues seek refuge from the Zemerian authorities. Vardenfell smells an opportunity, even though the people in his realm are notoriously distrusting of mages. This is why he orders the construction of a fortress for the mages in the wilds near Everglade. Because of its position near the Great Eastern Highway it is called the Wayspire.
After the closing of the Oblivion portals the Dragon Lord Valthor returns to Mundus from his prison in the Void. He starts building an army of dragons from his fortress of Skuldafn. With it he aims to conquer the Ominex gate which is situated in the Dragontail mountains, challenge the Dragon God Akatosh and take his place. He had decided to use the Watchlands as a staging ground for his assault on these mountains and in 1403 he lands in the Watchlands, briefly taking over control of the Night's Watch. In the meantime Eric Strongborn learned the secret to the Dragon form at his ancestral tomb of Aingherm in the Dauer mountains. After this he battled Valthor in an enormous war in the skies above the Dragontail Mountains. Valthor, however, succeeded in opening the Ominex gate and in another battle took the place of the Dragon God Akatosh. This forces Akatosh's alter ego, Auriel, to split from his now deceased form. After Valthor's ascension to godhood Marcus Vardenfell and Eric Strongborn succeed in driving the remnants of his army from the Gothic Kingdom. The tear Valthor has created within the Veil protecting Mundus from Godlike influences allowed several rifts to start opening within the world.
The Windhelm Trading Company is tasked by the Night's Watch to start sending out expeditions to the oceans. Their expedition establishes contact with the former Myrtanian colony of Khorinis and a trade agreement is signed. After this the expedition discovers the island of Mirk and finds a sea route to the continent of Xu. It is decided, however, that too little can be gained at that moment for an expedition to this land to be profitable.
As the Oblivion plane of Coldharbour passed the plane of Mundus the necromancers of Gorgorath started to grow in power. This forced the Night's Watch to launch a desperate military expedition into the Northern wilds. Eventually they were able to drive the necromancers from Gorgorath.
Hokan's army caused the Nordmarian orcs to seek refuge for their people further south. While most effects of this march were felt in the Nordic Kingdoms and the eastern lands of Asgarnia, Yarozek's warband pierced the Nordic invasions and was only stopped by a combined force of the The Night's Watch, Chantry of Fire and Inquisition.
