The Southern and Southeastern Expedition Teams dispatched to explore Tolara's Southern Peninsula part ways after exiting Nisaba Pass.
After traveling only 12 leagues South of the separation point, the Southern Expedition Team is found by the only surviving member of the Southeastern Team- who had turned east after separation. This man is Expedition Leader Somran Othro. EL Othro appears to be severely traumatized from the experience that has (presumably) killed his team, Officials are unable to piece together a coherent story of what happened; what medical care available is provided to him, and a team is dispatched to the closest settlement to find a Mage or Cleric.
EL Othro is murdered while he sleeps by a member of the Southern Team, just 6 days after reconnecting with the team... whether for lack of trying or a legitimate lack of knowledge as to who did it, the murderer is never caught or punished; the event is widely considered a mercy killing among members of the Southern Expedition Team. Two days after the murder of EL Othro by an unknown member of the Southern Expedition Team, reports of the encounter (written by EL Yiatun Lephai and ETM Zabea Azranus) are dispatched to officials in Eris'ka.

Now named the Mai-Ben'hat Palace, the ruined structure was unearthed in the Nisaba Pass by Archaeologist Hamadi Sebek in 6393. According to documentation and investigation, it was the foremost Sa'avian royal site before Spellfire led to its destruction- forcing the royal family to relocate to the western Kuai’ain Palace around the year 3000.
