Diona Ambriel
Diona is an aasimar cleric drawing her divine magic from the spirit of Candlenights. Previously, she drew her power from Krampus, who had answered the call when Diona's parents attempted to receive the blessing of the Companion.
Physical Description
Special abilities
Diona uses the Candlenights-blessed magic to preserve life. The Life domain focuses on the vibrant positive energy that sustains all life. Diona is able to promote vitality and health through healing the sick and wounded, caring for those in need, and driving away the forces of death and undeath.
Krampus used to be able to use Diona as a pawn of his. When he did this, a third eye would appear upon her forehead with a shuddering black sclera and red iris. As their relationship was somewhat symbiotic, Diona could sometimes gaze through the eyes of the Krampus. When she did this, she felt a slight out of body experience as she watched through the point of view of the tall, hunched over eldritch being. After freeing herself of him, she managed to overcome her blindness and acquire Blindsight, meaning she can see a faint outline of anything within 60ft. of her.
As an aasimar, Diona can sometimes spread wings and fly.
Apparel & Accessories
Diona typically wears her Hellrider Ambriel jacket over her plate armour. She also carries her shortsword, Blaven, with her.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Diona's parents, Zirlavin and Indrazi Ambriel. Her parents hailed from Elturel, however Diona was born after the Fall of Elturel . Upon birth, her parents tried to commune with the Companion- the angel who had watched over Elturel. They wished for the Companion to become her celestial guide. However, they came into contact with something more sinister.
Diona's parents succumbed to the persuasion of the entity, raising Diona with the idea that her guide was a benevolent creature. On her 20th birthday, the day of Candlenights, her parents attempted to bind her further to the power of the entity. It was this day that Diona first saw the true form of her god; the Krampus. She refused to answer his calls, and all she heard was the jingle of bells as her golden eyes and sight was stolen from.
Diona's father, Zirlavin Ambriel, was a paladin of Elturel (a member of the Hellriders) and as an honorary knight of the Yerentil Empire, he fought on the side of the Greaves Insurgents during the War of Hope and Despair and its subsequent military conflicts trying to stand against the Alliance. He lost his life in 8003 in the battle in the Liberation of the Free Peach, leaving his plate armour to Diona, for when she was ready. He also left her a cool leather jacket, with Hellrider Ambriel embroidered on the back. Indrazi also perished in the Liberation, after abandoning Diona to try and help Zirlavin. She was beaten down by brute Crowil and perished at the hands of a Booming Blade cast by eldritch knight Chamois, while Zirlavin had been dealt a finishing blow by rune knight Clodagh. This left Diona alone, orphaned, and having to learn how to navigate life blind.
In 8006, Diona moved in to 45, Binroad District in Free Peach City. She lives there with Baby McBaby, Nick Nara, Friday, Sir Ironheart and Dŵr. In the city, to pay her end of the rent, she got a part time job with the local Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors.
In 8008, during the Candlenights kidnappings orchestrated by the monster living under Jooge's Barbershop, she was made aware of the Krampus' involvement when he stopped her and her friends trying to investigate further into the mystery and put an end to the kidnappings. She met Sister Garaele at this time, for the first time meeting someone else who was a cleric of Krampus, however it was unsure how much Garaele knew of the nature of the entity. When it turned out that the creature causing chaos beneath the barbershop was an aspect of Candlenights, Garaele allowed it to put the party to sleep and wipe their memories rather than risk harm coming to them.
She tracked Krampus' dark magic to the city of Okhathage, which had been plunged into despair on this Candlenights. After banding with bards from the City of Sing, she managed to slay Krampus and take his eyes for her own. She then gained the ability of Blindsight.
Storm King's Thunder
Diona was hired by adventurers after their cleric, Gaius, had had his magic blocked. She decided she would travel with them, if just to see and explore the world for the first time.Social
Hobbies & Pets
Krampus taught Diona how to knit scarves and little gloves.
Relationships
History
Diona and Veo only know each other through Sister Garaele. Diona is a part of the hot squad with Garaele and Damian Pokobo, and since Veo follows Garaele practically everywhere, they know each other loosely.
