Alliance

After the Collision, the leaders of the west of Terra Caelum united with aspirations of countrywide peace. The Alliance comprises of the seven regions, or holds. Breantis, the Highfields, the Free Peach, Western Plains, the Wild Woods, Salzenstadt, and the Sword Coast.

Government based on Election

Alliance leaders are elected every four years by those within their holds, and keep the term of king or queen as a way to acknowledge the monarchist history of their nations. Each hold has been reformed to keep up to a forward-thinking and lawful standard, putting the good of the littlest people first, and squashing out injustice and prejudice.   Each Hold has a king or queen. In each hold, the ruler has a thane and a high septon. The thane is in charge of military command and the high septon advises the ruler on diplomatic relations. Beneath the thane and high septon, there is a Council of Eight- each holding an important role in the hold's government.

During the Year of Change

In 8009, after Koko ascended to the role of king, he headed the initiative to bring the Shadowed Vale into the Alliance. This new union led to one thing that led to another, and the Alliance has become casually known as the Lords' Alliance.   The Lords' Alliance represents the interests of the people of all included regions and the most powerful armies on the Sword Coast. The order controls wealth that can hire mercenaries, ensure the loyalty of wavering princes, and possibly even bribe a few chromatic dragons to switch sides or break from Tiamat's cause. Without the help of the alliance against the Cult of the Dragon, the Dragon Queen's victory might be assured.   Even while they are working together, members of the Lords' Alliance are always trying to advance their own interests, though usually, the members have the same general outlook on law and chaos. Holds cooperate and help each other in times of crisis. But, considering the chaotic history of the world prior to the Alliance, a rearranging of the power structure leaves the citizens of Terra Caelum to hope that the new order leaves them better off. For anyone to move up, someone else must move down.   Whenever a military campaign is underway, the Lords' Alliance is likely to be in command. Even if it isn't, Alliance representatives will be on hand to observe and advise. If heroes who are aligned with the Alliance find themselves in legal trouble, a councillor might come to the party's aid with a writ of pardon.   Fighters and sorcerers are plentiful in the Lords' Alliance, but the order takes on any character who feels at home in civilized lands. Barbarians, rangers, and druids are seldom involved with this faction, which sometimes leads to strained relations with the Emerald Enclave.

Council of 8003

After the founding of the Alliance in 8002 thanks to the Candlenights Treaty  , the following were the founding and first leaders of the Alliance.

Joseph Reynolds VI

Joseph was the heir to the Reynolds kingdom and one of the founding members of the Alliance. Him joining the Alliance led to his kingdom becoming known as the Western Plains.

Jorah Thorn

Jorah was the druidic leader of the Wild Woods, and became a symbol for the Woodsfolk. He then became the first elected king of the Wild Woods.

Elizabetha de Montajay

Lizzy was the heir to the de Montajay line and one of the founding members of the Alliance. She was the first elected queen of Breantis.

Kram Silverdeep

Kram gained popularity as an Alliance soldier and shortly before the Liberation of the Free Peach was elected as first king of Salzenstadt.

London Carnation

As a way to pacify the loyalists, London Carnation was elected as queen of the once-imperial elf kingdom Yerentil, which then became known as the Highfields. Her rule brought both stability and chaos, as it divided the elf nation between the majority who were in favour of this change, and the radical loyalist minority. Much of the loyalists either went underground or joined the army of Lord Quentin Greaves.

Council of 8006

After all of the elections in the election season of 8005, the following are the leaders starting the 1st of January 8006.

London Carnation was reelected as queen of the Highfields.

Marjorie Greaves

Marjorie Greaves, after her heroic overthrowing of her father Lord Greaves, became very popular after the Liberation of the Free Peach.

Alec Grace

Alec Grace was elected as king of the Sword Coast after the Liberation of Bronzemere.

Council of 8009

After all of the elections in the election season of 8008, the following are the leaders starting the 1st of January 8009.

Lady Laeral Silverhand

Lady Laeral is the queen of the Western Plains. She is one of the Seven Sisters—legendary, nigh-immortal figures known to have been blessed by Mystra. (Some even say they are the goddess's daughters.) Her spellcasting ability is impressive but is beginning to wane, and she focuses more on political power than on the arcane these days. She ran her election campaign after her marriage to Khelben Arunsun and staunchly opposed the giant and dragon raids on settlements of Terra Caelum and actively involved herself in such conflicts, gaining popularity and praise from civilians.

King Melandrach

The King of the Wild Woods is the delegate for the elves of the Wild Woods. Whereas his sons Alagarthas and Neronvain always rushed headlong into their own pursuits, Melandrach is more circumspect.

Lord Dagult Neverember

Lord Dagult Neverember is the Lord Protector of the Sword Coast. He looks the part of such an impressively titled figure: tall and broad-shouldered, with a thick beard, a wild mane of hair, and a forceful manner. Rarely seen without his hand around a glass of strong spirits, he is a master manipulator and looks and behaves as a king should.   Strong and decisive, Dagult acts always for the good of his subjects and realm—and in doing so, has consistently built up his own power and wealth. Dagult demands order and rewards discipline, but he is pragmatic and driven by results above all else. He knows that nothing comes without effort, and sacrifices must be made when necessary. Tireless in his actions, he never stops until he has achieved his goals. He will use any means at his disposal, as long as those means are legally justifiable—even when such justification must be "rediscovered" from long-forgotten or ignored laws.

Marshall Ulder Ravengard

After Epsilon Estiellac became the temporary leader of the Free Peach, Ravenguard was elected and came into power at the start of 8009. He has the greatest martial acumen of anyone at the current council. He can also muster just as many soldiers as the Western Plains, and he is not bashful about saying so. His place is at the head of the war council and the front of the battle.   Ravengard is a stern warrior dedicated to discipline and results. Having risen through the ranks of the Order of the Gauntlet by the might of his blade and the sharpness of his wits, he sometimes lacks sophistication and tact, but he possesses an unwavering commitment to the law. More comfortable working with soldiers than adventurers, Ravengard is used to giving orders and having them obeyed without question.

President Isteval

President Isteval is the first president of Breantis.   A veteran dragon slayer, Isteval bears a wound in his leg that resists magical healing, and he walks with a cane made from a bone of the green dragon that dealt him the injury. The paladin can be a helpful source of dragon lore, but his advice is always guarded. He sees his infirmity as a reminder from his god Zudris of the dangers of hubris. As befits his deity's ethos, Isteval has chosen to treat his injury as a reason to encourage the heroics of others even as his own legend fades. Still, at times like these when the world needs heroes, he doesn't like being reminded that he must watch the fight from the sidelines.   Isteval believes in heroes as the spark that can ignite the flames of righteousness in others and the light that chases away the darkness of evil. Seeing this spark in the adventurers makes the paladin one of the party's strongest advocates at the Council of Waterdeep, as long as they pursue a principled path.   Sir Isteval has much in common with Ontharr Frume of the Order of the Gauntlet. The two are potential allies in all things, which worries some of the other Lords' Alliance members.

King Taern "Thunderspells" Hornblade

Taern is the king of the Highfields. The wizard was involved with the Arcane Brotherhood for many years as high mage, but eventually left the organisation to pursue a life in politics. His main political competition was Methrammar Silverhand, son of Alustriel Silverhand, but though Methrammar was confident and persuasive, he was too forthright and earnest to succeed in the elections. As such, Taern was elected.

King Connerad Brawnanvil

Connerad Brawnanvil is the king of Salzenstadt. Like Ontharr Frume of the Order of the Gauntlet, Connerad responds well to bold demonstrations of heroism. However, he is personally and deeply insulted by any slight against dwarves or intrusions by the characters into dwarven affairs. His reactions to the adventurers' exploits determine how he votes in the fourth council.

King Koko von Zarovich I

King Koko, while receiving praise for bringing the Shadowed Vale into the Alliance, has not yet fully gained the trust of the other council members. He is a champion of Hades, and as such his divine spellcasting is nigh unparalleled.
