Peninsula of the Stormwatcher

The Peninsula of the Stormwatcher rests in the western theater of the the Shimmering Sea, separated from the mainland of the Iron Empire by the Windbreaker Peaks (also called the Stormwall). The northern part of the Peninsula, in the foothills of the mountains, is very wet year round, while the southern lands are more temperate with more distinct seasons. In the south, the summer is usually dry with rainfall more common in the winter and cooler months.    Due to its location, the lords of the Iron Empire had always had their eyes on claiming it, for the land is good for farming and its coastline makes its ideal for control over the Shimmering Sea. However, even during the days of the Old Iron Empire, the Peninsula of the Stormwatcher was often a hot bed of unrest and anti-Imperial sentiment. Because crossing the Windbreaker Peaks is expensive and difficult, rebels could often hold out against the Legions far more efficiently than they could elsewhere in Ceralus or along the coast of the Shimmering Sea.    The Peninsula of the Stormwatcher and its controlling government, the Convocation of the Five, are technically part of the Iron Empire. However, due to their position as a trade center (often seen as the western counterpart to the Jeweled Cities), the Empress has a special treaty with the Convocation of Five that grants them a measure of self-governance. This means that the Peninsula of the Stormwatcher is very popular for Imperials who seek a bit of a longer leash from the Empress's control and makes it a hotbed for Broken Crown activity.
