Order of Tatham
Perhaps the most important group in all Aesalian history. The Order of Tatham was the name of the rebellion that saw the final destruction of the Draconic Imperium. Led by a Gnome named Tatham the rebellion spread like wildfire across the rebellion as more heroes rose up to join its ranks.
With the fire spreading fast Tatham seized the opportunity and struck at the heart of the Imperium slaying Medrash the Mad in a bloody battle that cost both their lives. In honour of their leader the rebels took the name 'Order of Tatham' and hunted the other dragons further spreading the rebellion.
In the ensuing anarchy as the Imperium fell the members of the Order, the heroes who had freed the land of Dragons became the first warlords and leaders. In time their bloodlines became affiliated with divine providence and Tatham became remembered as a god of order, a towering figure far greater than the Gnome of his birth.
Structure
The Order of Tatham was as much a title of honour held by those following his example as a formal grouping. Beneath its banner were a number of armies in revolt that organised themselves through assorted structures of leadership. Where two armies met following the banner seniority was often determined by charisma and experience in equal measure with the armies preferring to follow the commands of those they trusted and aspired too.
Disbandment
With the collapse of the Draconic Imperium the purpose of the Order shifted towards creating some kind of state in the political abyss. Yet leading the various groups, whose common hatred and suffering had once united them, was far harder in peace than battle and soon the fighting turned inward. The Order existed as mediators and warlords for a time with some creating small states in some region or another but before long the old banner of the Order of Tatham became as much a myth as their leader.
