Uig Bay

Uig Bay is a large inlet of water on the western coast of the Trotternish Peninsula. The bay is fed by both the River Rha and the Glen Conon River. The bay is part of the larger sea surrounding the Innsegall Islands.   Uig Bay serves as the home to two habitations The bay also acts as a protected port for fishing vessels and ships travelling among the Innsegall Islands.

Geography

Uig Bay is several hundred meters across with an east-west orientation on the western coast of the Trotternish Peninsula.    The bay has a shallow edge along the land but drops off quickly towards the middle, making it an ideal spot for larger ships to lay to port and weather rough seas.

Ecosystem

The bay is a transitional body of water being mostly salt water, with the two river feeds providing fresh water feeds. These feeds result in some brackish water at the mouths of the rivers.
