the Highlands of the Ancients
Covering much of Anbar, the Desert of Anbar is one of the harshest environments of all Ethae. Though legends, myths, and tales abound of what stood on the Western Reach before the desert swallowed it all, it is a seemingly endless sea of sand today. People have lived on the edges of this desert for thousands of years in the hospitable regions. The western coastlands are made up of strips of temperate grasslands, at least in the northern regions. In the north, running between the desert and Tobia's Gulf, are the Areian Peaks. A mountain range rich with deep valleys and fertile plains.
These lands on the desert's edge, known through the ages as Lhakamed, are home to several civilizations in the modern day. Along the western coast are the Cavean Union city-states. On the northern coast, both Seely and Toemanshire thrive in the river valleys of the central mountains. Between these nations, deep in the mountains and along the desert edge to the south, are several Orc civilizations, the largest of which are the Besed Orchold, Taba Orchold, and Ubed Orchold. Each controlling their territories and the smaller Orchold within.
