Melentine Ocean

Though not a wide ocean, sailors on the western side of the continent of Tremalking choose to stay close to its shores. This is due to the Leviathan of the West.
Though many associate the name Melentine with the successor states of the old Tremalking Empire, the name originally referred to the ocean west of the continent. Meaning "Honey-sweet", this is due to an unusual property of this body of water; instead of tasting like salt water, it tastes like sweet water. No ones discovered why this is the case, some attributing this phenomenon as being a secreted byproduct of the Leviathan in the West. Regardless, drinking water from the Melentine has the same effect as drinking water from any other sea; it never quenches thirst, and slowly it drives you mad.
Though there are known islands deep within the Melentine, some charted, many uncharted, with strange peoples and customs, not many would dare to sail the dreaded depths of the Melentine to find out.
Many exotic wonders and animals come from these mysterious islands, one of which is the Guinea Pig.
