Liba Tribe

The Liba Tribe is the most reclusive in the whole of the Sypi Confederacy. Their ways and culture are a mystery to the other Confederate tribes, as they only truly engage in wider politics during elections for High Chiefs, and in war time. The Libas are known for somehow always being aware when a high chief's tenure is about to be coming to an end, as they are always the first to send a representative to Wofslar, even if the High Chief is still alive when they set out. Their settlement is known to be somewhere deep within the foothills of the Apps Mountains, and is by legend, protected and shielded by magic or technology of the Nameless Empire.

Structure

The Libas are ruled by a single chief, who's title has been passed down through the generations from one son to the next. The Liba chief is absolute in his power over the rest of the tribe, and is expected to rule with wisdom. He can appoint delegates to serve the tribe during times of crisis, often from among the tribe's greatest warriors, but also occasionally its finest diplomats to serve. To become chief, a Liba son has to pass a series of mysterious trials, which have never been witnessed by an outsider, but are said to be the leading cause of death among the leadership of the Liba people over the centuries.

Public Agenda

The Libas have always stood for isolationism and peace among the tribes of the Sypi Confederacy. They were willing supporters of the Bienombes during the civil war, but were often suspected of harboring sympathies for other candidates for the office during the election. The Libas were accused of withholding abilities or support from the war effort, but no one could ever decisively prove that they had held back their strength during the fighting. Today the Libas have remained silent on most affairs, and have been left mostly alone by the High Chief.

Demography and Population

As far as anyone outside of the tribe knows, the Liba tribe consists entirely of humans. Only rarely have humans from outside of the tribe itself been allowed in, typically through marriage or exceptional circumstance. Most of these people were sworn to secrecy about the workings and assets of the Liba tribe, and have found their lives within to be acceptable enough not to attempt escape. No other races are known to live among the Liba.
