Saru Tribe
The Saru tribe is a predominantly orc tribe that resides within the portions of the Apps Mountains that rest within the Sypi Confederacy. They have stuck truer to the old orc ways rather than embracing the so-called "modernity" of the Populresi or the savagery of the Badlands orcs. Their skills in battle and talent for adventure have given them a fearsome reputation across the Confederacy, and many prove their worth by raids into the Kingdom of Bamard. The Saru are considered to be somewhat more civilized than the Confederate goblins, but still inherently savage, whether that is justified or not.
Structure
The Saru Tribe is led by a chief with absolute power over his or her fellow orcs. Typically the chief is responsible for mediating any disputes or conflicts that cannot be solved by force of arms between combatants, and to observe to prevent cheating in cases where duels do occur. He is also responsible for diplomacy with the other tribes of the Confederacy and handling affairs that affect the tribe as a whole. To aid him in this endeavor, the chief can appoint delegates or warriors from within the tribe to assist. When a chief dies, a new chief is selected by the Boasting Gathering, in which the mightiest warriors of the tribe will speak of their accomplishments and display trophies of these feats. The contender with the greatest trophy or accomplishment is appointed the new chief by acclaim of the tribe.
Public Agenda
The Saru tribe is more politically active in the Sypi Confederacy than some may think. They are avid lobbyists for the increase of patrols and raids along the Mobtens River, but they have also called for a more interventionist approach to the Shin Empire. They claim that the Shin are causing problems in the Apps Mountains and that a fully armed expedition is required to help keep the peace in the foothills. They are the only to call for active invasion or war upon Shin territories, which has earned them quite a bit of fear and enmity from the other tribes.
Demography and Population
The Saru tribe is made up predominantly of orcs. Over the years a number of humans have interacted with the orcs of the tribe, and this has led to fairly consistent intermingling, particularly with the Bienombes. Therefore, a substantial population of half-orcs has emerged in the tribe, and have been able to sustain themselves as a minority in the group. They often rise as leaders or diplomats, supporting the rest of the tribe in their growth. A handful of humans have embraced the warlike ways of the Saru and proudly declare themselves as members, although most have first achieved the recognition of their new orc peers.
