Red Fang Chapter 39
At midday, they passed through a gorge with red stone cliffs on either side. The sun had come out, warming the air and filling the sky with insects, prey to the birds that darted over the boat.
“Is this your ridge?” Samuel asked Dren. “Must be,” Dren said. “That puts the Gan River to the west and the fort three, maybe four days travel to the south. We’ll see the mountains long before we reach them though.” “Big, are they?” Davey asked as he pulled on an oar. “Big?” Dren snorted. He had the baby asleep in his arms and he rocked him gently from side to side. “There’s a mountain peak at the centre of the range that is the highest point in the whole of Nostvary. The Dwarves have these tunnels that go all the way up and they say that from the peak they can see everything. They might even be watching us right now.”If you'd like to read this as an ebook or paperback, please follow the links.
