Red Fang Chapter 21
Davey munched on a carrot as he stared up at the trees. His legs ached, and he never wanted to walk another mile, not unless someone was forcing him at sword point. A sound on the road caught his attention, and he raised a hand to point at the lone figure approaching.
“Boden!” Davey waved at the priest from his spot in the long grass. The priest was wearing his robes once again, but the red heart had become a pink stain. “What’s he doing back here?” Dallon asked, putting down the cloth bundle and standing up. He was in the middle of sorting out the food delivery from the baron’s men and slapped at Boris’s arm as the big man snatched a wine pot from the pile. The giant grinned mischievously as he retreated to his spot on the other side of the campfire. “Boden, come over,” Davey shouted, and waved for the priest to approach. “I hope he brought more wine,” Samuel said, retrieving the other wine pot from the pile and glaring at Dallon before he could object. “We’re still in enemy territory,” Toli said from his spot just outside the circle, where he had been rereading a letter in the light from the fire. He folded the piece of paper and slipped it inside his jacket. “The baron might have welcomed us, but his men might think otherwise.”If you'd like to read this as an ebook or paperback, please follow the links.
